“Nice break”
Reviewed 10 November 2016 for a stay in July 2016

House was nice enough with plenty of space but the poor wifi reception even in the main room was a let down for the younger members of our party. There was very poor TV reception too. There were lots of DVDs but the DVD player didn't work very well, kept freezing.
I understand that there are concerns about glasses being used in the hot tub, but there were only plastic tumblers which were quite shabby due to the dishwasher. Our men drink Guinness but there were no pint tumblers at all and it can't be drunk from the can. Also the main bedroom was large with a lovely ensuite but there was nowhere to hang clothes as the wardrobes were all locked. We still had a nice time and enjoyed the Cross Keys Inn in Ettrickbridge where we were made very welcome with a lovely meal on Sunday.

Thank you for your feedback. We are glad you had a good break but I see there were some issues with your stay. The wifi in any rural situation is always a problem especially if there are multiple devices connected at one time and it is always slower in the evening. The plastic glasses are always provided as there has been a situation when we did provide real glasses and broken glass was discovered in the hot tub. This could have resulted in a serious accident. We will take into consideration the pint glasses going forward. As for the locked wardrobes there is only one wardrobe that is locked and there are 5 other wardrobes throughout the house. However we are glad you had a nice meal at the Keys I will certainly let her know. Thank you for your review. Kind Regards, Lynn and Mike

“My hen night ”
Reviewed 17 March 2016 for a stay in March 2016

Sorry it's a very late review,
So decided to chose the the pinewood lodge only because it held 12 guests and had a hot tub!
Little did I realise how beautiful it was both inside and outside, me and my family and friend chose to come for my hen party/ relaxing weekend! Everyone and I mean everyone said how lovely it was.
All bedrooms were immaculate, plenty space and bathrooms!
The kitchen was a perfect size for big groups as u can all sit n chat while cooking and drinking :)
Hot tub well that was my highlight was again immaculate, surroundings of the garden were so relaxing Lynn and Mike defiantly did a good job there! And the barn with the pool table was a great extra!
The water problem said on every other review wasn't a problem for us lot as Lynn told us before hand!
Will defiantly be seeing us again
Thanks again! :)

“Fantastic for getting together with friends”
Reviewed 19 November 2015 for a stay in November 2015

Our initial search for a rental property really only had two conditions : enough beds for all of us and a hot tub. But when we got to Pine Lodge we realised we'd lucked out and got a whole lot more!
The house itself is huge, we comfortably slept 12 - Lynn and Mike kindly let us increase the usual 10 capacity but you should check with them first. The kitchen was big enough to cook in and socialise and we managed to all sit around the dining table, it's well stocked with equipment and has a big fridge freezer and additional drinks fridge.
The lounge has a real fire stove and a big flat screen TV with an apple box and chromecast dongle. There's only one triple and one double sofa so we had to bring in chairs from the kitchen when we were all wanting to sit down to play games.
Upstairs all the bedrooms and wash rooms are in great condition, they are nice and bright and three of them lead out onto a balcony. All the en-suites and bathrooms had nice strong showers - you might want to stagger your washing though as the hot water can get used up quite quickly.
Outside the house there are two large lawns which would be great in the summer and of course the hot tub! Surrounded by a large deck the tub will fit 6 very comfortably, probably 8 at a push but you'll risk losing water. It has easily controlled bubble jets and lights. One thing to be aware of is that - although it doesnt look it on google maps - there's another large house within ear shot and Lynn and Mike advised us to be quiet outside after 10 as the neighbours have been known to call the police because of noise in the hot tub late at night.
Another great aspect to this rental is the games barn. It has a darts board and pool table in place (and it's actually in decent knick surprisingly) and other games to play outside; giant dominoes and skittles etc. There's also some bikes that we were free to use for a wee donation to the honesty box (which also will take your £1 coins for each tassimo coffee pod you use - really good coffee if unfortunately high on waste packaging). There's also the bare bones for a bar set up if you are so inclined.
Lynn and Mike the owners were very pleasant, they dropped in to say hi on the first night and were very understanding of damage we accidently caused to the hot tub cover - we paid for it of course.
One thing to note is that there is next to no mobile phone reception in the house, the wifi is basic phone line connection and the router doesn't reach the majority of the house with any strength, but who wants to be plagued by work emails when you're relaxing in a hot tub!!?
I can't comment on the surrounding attractions as we spent the whole weekend at the house but it is definitely a place we will probably return to and definitely one of the best rentals we've had.
