Reviewed 7 January 2015 for a stay in January 2015

Mill Lade Cottage.... First time we have visited Scotland and what a amazing place to stay.. It is like home from home so well equipt every need is catered for. The lovely log fire was such a bonus, we have never chilled so much when we have gone away, just what we needed after Christmas. Robert the owner is a lovely guy, great communication when we booked the cottage... Thank you so much again we will be back same time next year. Thanks for the wine and cake on arrival much appreciated after the long journey x everyone in Scotland are so friendly, make you feel so welcome cannot wait to come back

“Fantastic stay at the Mill Lade Cottage”
Reviewed 4 January 2015 for a stay in December 2014

Loved our stay at the mill lade. Robert was helpful in providing an extra bed, firewood and thoughtful goodies when we arrived. Apartment was very clean, new and had stunning views. The fireplace was great, made the cottage warm and cozy. Private driveway makes it easy to arrive by car.
Really enjoyed Melrose, would definitely recommend The Hoebridge (in Gattonside, just across the river) for dinner.
Would highly recommend this stay to anyone wishing to explore the Scottish Boarders and Melrose abbey.

Thanks again Robert!

“A Lovely Little Gem”
Reviewed 26 December 2014 for a stay in October 2014

A very well appointed cottage in the nice quiet village of Newstead. Views over the valley to the tweed although you cannot quite see the tween it is still a beautiful outlook. The cottage is comfortable and was clean and well provided for with WiFi and TV/DVD etc. Nicely located only 1 mile from melrose which is a pleasant walk through the valley low road or the higher road near to the main byepass. The only thing was its proximity to the main road through the village but as it was very quiet it was not an issue. Only suitable for a couple as a single bedroom. Vert steep, spiralesq, stairs to the mezzanine floor not suitable for elderly or people with access difficulties.

Liked best: the overall layout and modern interior and its tasteful presentation

Management Response
12 Jan 2015
Thank you very much for your thoughtful and positive comments. I would just like to make it clear, however, that the principal accommodation, i.e. living room, kitchen, bedroom and shower room, is all on the ground floor and eminently suitable for the elderly or people with access difficulties. It is only the additional mezzanine gallery area that is accessed by the staircase.

“Excellent, well-equipped, modernised cottage with wood burning stove.”
Reviewed 28 October 2014 for a stay in October 2014

Ideal cottage for exploring the Scottish Borders. Very well-equipped with great views over the surrounding countryside and a balcony to sit out on in warm weather. Very efficient wood burning stove which keeps the place lovely and warm on cold days. Walks from the door and Melrose only 20 minutes walk away with its many cafes and restaurants. Highly recommended for a short or long break.

“Perfect small romantic cottage nestled in the Scottish Borders!”
Reviewed 3 September 2014 for a stay in August 2014

The cottage is charming and romantic, with wonderful views of the fields and hills. It's in the small village of Newstead but very centrally located to everything the Borders have to offer and close enough to Edinburgh. Our stay was wonderful! I can't say enough about how perfect this place is. Wish I could have taken it back with me! My memories there will last a lifetime.
