“Dunheanish Guest House Oban”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 July 2013

We recently spent two days at Dunheanish and would recommend it highly. Quite apart from the furnishings which consisted of spotlessly decorated high ceilinged rooms with original Victorian features, the view was simply the best of any I have seen from a guest house and would make a stay there worthwhile. The downside was that the walk up from the town is quite steep although do-able. William and Linda were attentive and well-informed hosts and William who does 'front of house' has an easy and notable sense of humour. The breakfasts were delicious and the whole represents good value for money. I would only add beware of the car-park. It has some slightly alarming slopes. But if I visit Oban again this will be my first choice.

We spent two very nice days in this B&B. Very welcoming and friendly hosts, big and clean room, and a fantastic view over Oban. Breakfast was excellent, as was the dining room.
Free parking on the premises, although the entrance is a bit on the small side ;)
The hosts gave us some great hints on what so see or where to go for dinner, overall we were absolutely happy with this place.

Had a great stay at this B&B. The answer for reservation enquiry was kind and prompt. William was very welcoming and had great recommendations on what to see, to eat and to do in town. Great host! The room was very clean and neat and the view from the house is just magnificent! The breakfast was delicious and generous. Would recommend this B&B to anyone!

We don't normally stay in guest houses, preferring the flexibility and greater range of facilities provided by hotels. However Tripadvisor reviews of hotels in Oban led us to the Dunheanish Guest House. Lucky break!

We had a lovely big room with a great view in the direction of Mull. Everything in the room and bathroom was spotless. A minor observation - it was very difficult to regulate the flow and temperature of the shower. Difficult to hit the right spot between skin removing scalding and character building icy cold.

Breakfast was excellent and there can't be many dining rooms with better views.

As another reviewer had pointed out, it is a fairly steep climb back up to the Dunheanish from the town. Perhaps William and Linda could arrange a Sherpa service. The slope also presents a challenge for the unwary car parker - well it did for me! Tip - reverse into the space across the narrow (and steep) road from the Dunheanish and enter the car park nose first. That will give you a fighting chance of avoiding the wall. Alternatively the car park for the McCaig Tower is a short distance up the hill.

The free WiFi was greatly appreciated.

This is a guest house that greatly benefits from the attention and humour of its proprieters. It's not cheap but represents good value for money and we certainly will be back when next in Oban.

Room Tip: All rooms appear to be equally good with exceptional views.

We had the front room on the 2nd floor with a huge bay window overlooking the harbor. It was perfect! Extremely clean and William, the host, was one of the most helpful people we met in Scotland, a land of many friendly people! We had car trouble (an understatement) and he literally took over our repairs and handled all the arrangements for us. We thought Oban was a must see and Dunheanish House the very best place to stay by far! Thank you William!!!
