“Great Location, lovely Cottage”
Reviewed 16 December 2015 for a stay in November 2015

Comfortable cozy cottage, easy to find on the main road through Montrose, near the center of town. Local amenities in walking distance, including train station and nearby bus stops. The cottage is fairly well equipped, and has a nice roomy walled garden to the rear. The Wifi is included, which is a real boost.

“Quaint, pleasant stay”

If you have business in Montrose, the location is definitely five star. The property was easily accessed, clean, and very pleasant. Two items kept the entire property from five star in my opinion - the on-street parking was cumbersome depending upon the area's activity level (seems many locals park their cars on nearby roads on Friday and Saturday nights making for quite a walk) and the pay-as-you-go electricity was something for which we hadn't budgeted. Granted, we ended-up in Montrose during what may turn out to be the coldest week of the year, but we averaged an additional 12-15 quid per day in utility expense we didn't expect. Certainly wouldn't preclude us from booking again, but anyone visiting in the winter should consider this in the overall property expense. Otherwise, very nice stay!

Thank you for your comments. we are disappointed that you did not see the parking in the street opposite the cottage called the Mall. There is plenty of room day and night and it is 50 yards from the property.
The Cottage is all electric and your costs do seem high to us. We do understand our visitors from overseas are unaware of utility costs although the property is on the economy tarrif We had already ordered and arranged gas central heating to be installed shortly.

“Great Comfy Cottage”
Reviewed 18 September 2014 for a stay in September 2014

Stayed 5 nights at the Redfield Cottage. Very comfortable and cosy. The beds were very comfortable and the rooms all a good size. The kitchen was well equipped with cutlery crockery etc, just lacking a few basics like tongs and microwave bowls, but nothing that we couldn't deal with. The position is great, and no noise from the road once you are inside. Close walk into town and great bus service ( X7) along the coast from Dundee to Aberdeen. Take note of the electricity top up scheme ( never heard of this in Australia) and it could add a fair bit to your costs. We barely used the heater at all and spent £9 in 5 days - and we were out most days and don't watch much TV at all. Overall had a great stay and the owner was more than helpful with any requirements, Great pub only 1 min walk away. Loved our stay.

“We needn't have worried”
Reviewed 20 July 2014 for a stay in October 2013

Having enjoyed the excellent facilities at the Garden Apartment in 2012 we were initially apprehensive about staying in the cottage, given the on-road parking and that it faced directly onto the road. However the apartment was fully booked. Parking directly outside is possible to load and unload. In the event the owner was extremely happy for us to park across the road in the private grounds of the Mall House and once inside the cottage there was no audible noise. The cottage was very well equipped, clean and comfortable and the layout actually suited our needs more that the apartment. The only downside was that the smaller bedroom had bunk beds, albeit decent sized ones. Wilbur, our young Old English Sheepdog was made especially welcome. We have already booked again for this year whilst we visit family in the area.
