I booked for a special family night out for a group of 11 on Wednesday 4 April. We were excited about going to Zen as we’ve been before few years ago and only the week before I’d enjoyed a meal at the st Anne’s square restaurant. What a disappointment! The food was at best bland. We spent £191 for main courses only and to be frank I felt mugged!
The prawns in coconut cream tasted like Campbell’s soup! The tempura dishes were completely dried out and a sizzling teriyaki satay chicken didn’t sizzle and came with a thick jam like substance slathered on top in a congealed mess. Rice was additional to the main course price which made the meal more expensive than top belfast restaurants.
The toilets were shabby. Very few people in the restaurant so maybe word has got out already. I for one won’t be back.
