Walked from Falls Road to Shanklin Road.
An emotional journey through troubled times.
There was a memorial service taking place as we arrived on the Road.

My wife and I visited the Shankill Road as part of a taxi tour on our recent visit to Belfast. No matter which side of the divide you favour you must visit the Shankill road to capture the essence of the Loyalist movement in Belfast. Some of the murals are chilling in their celebration of violence - but that sadly is part of Belfast's history. No visit to Belfast would be complete without visiting this destination.

Part of the experience visiting the area. I'm sure it wasn't as safe 25 years ago but I'm glad I've seen it

For those familiar with recent NI history this is a compelling and thought provoking district of Belfast .Use the hop on hop off bus.

The murals here describe the war quite differently than on Falls road. Both sites are a must to understand the "Troubles".

This area of Belfast is just one of many where you can still that there is still reminder of the troubles. Shankill road is home to many of the murals that are on the side of buildings and houses.

Before visiting make sure you read local guidance on wha time to visit and what time to avoid

WE listened to our guide on the hop on hop off bus then wandered down here. Seeing the murals allowed us to imagine how it must ave been during the troubles. Having heard about them as a teenager on the news each night I was pleased to see and hear about it - especially now that the communities are at peace

Amazing to see and learn more about the "troubles" which I recall from being a youngster when it was all happening. A lot to see there, the artwork in the area is brilliant and the peace wall and gates are a sight to see. Shocked to realise the gates are still closed every evening and reopened again the next morning. A must to vsit if you are going to Belfast.

You need to see and feel both Shankill Road as well as Falls Road to experience lift in Belfast. Truly a real life educational experience.
