Description: We are quite difficult to find if you don't know the area well. We are situated about one hundred metres down the hill from the Red Lion pub and right behind Driscoll and Young Solicitors. There is a large archway by Driscoll and Young and we are through the arch and right to the end of the car park

I was invited to meet friends at Los Amigos and I honestly am not sure I would have found it otherwise. I am so glad I did. The food is absolutely great. A vegetarian mate had the huevos rancheros (spicy eggs) and almost everyone else had a variation on a burrito. I absolutely love Mexican food and often cook my own. Chains I've been to can be pretty dreadful and I've been to one other good Mexican restaurant (Reading) in recent years so my expectations were modest. The prices are almost too low and it's a pretty unassuming looking place. I was absolutely blown away by the food though - really superb. I hate to say it, but the burrito was better than mine so I'm going to be eating there again soon so I can copy it! There are no real frills to this place - they let the food do the talking.

I'm probably the wrong person to review this place, firstly because I favour haute cuisine, and secondly because Mexican would be about bottom of my list. However middle-stepdaughter comes here quite often and asked if we could all come this evening - 3 twenty-something girls and their partners - for her birthday; so clearly at has appeal to some. It's a vacuous hall; probably formerly a club or disco. Very friendly staff and obsequious service, but the food took ages. Not sure what I had; I asked for it mild and it was; it was meaty but - like all Mexican food as far as I'm concerned - very dull. My wife's Mexican black fish was better. The best thing I can say really is that it must be OK if you like this sort of place. I don't want to do it down and our middle one comes back after all. But of course if you were looking for really good food you'd not be looking at reviews of Mexican restaurants anyway, would you? If found this review useful, please click 'Helpful' below.

Worrying from the outside the restaurent proved friendly and economic inside. You really have to look for this restaurent, it is down an alley near St Woolos Primary School. The dining area is large and open, it was a Working men's club in a previous existance. I have not eaten Tex Mex before so cannot really comment on the authenticity of the food but it was very reasonably priced and the staff were friendly and efficient.

Don't be put off by the exterior - this place is a little hidden gem. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Cocktails were good and "cheap" I was used to Oxford prices I had the mojitos. For starters we had Nachos with cheese and pulled pork, salt and pepper squid, Jalepinos and spicy chicken tenders, all were excellent. For the mains we had the Enchilada, Burrito (2) and chilli with a couple of side orders again excellent. A great find an we will be calling in again if I am in the area.

We were a table of 12 and attended this weekend, this place is a little hidden gem. Staff were warm and welcoming. Good selection of drinks available, cocktails were delicious I had the mojitos. Food was really fresh and hot. Had nachos to start and liked
the way it was served with just nachos and cheese and all the guacamole etc separate for you to add yourself. Had the beef enchilada for my main, the beef fell apart and portion size was perfect. The waiters couldn't do enough for us and also gave free shots which went down a treat as you can imagine. Don't miss out on this place. We will definitely be returning
