This place oozes with charm and style.

We stayed in room no. 9 at the back of the hotel, the room was a little small so I'd not recommend if have large suitcases but fine for a few days. The shower was amazing a true torrent of hot water. The bed was luxurious and nice fat lump pillows.

Breakfast is served on tables filled with wonderful pieces of crockery and cutlery (a sugar bowl that was a miniature coal scuttle and shovel). The food was of high quality, lovely thick bacon with the fat crisped to perfection.

All the staff are friendly and helpful and I would stay here again, so close to city. However as we left we were told that the Gust House is being sold and is returning to a private house. A sad loss, but it will be a wonderful house for a lucky family.

Like stepping back in time to an era that took a pride in providing a quality experience. Independent guest house, no frills but every detail taken care of. Furnished in sympathy with its Victorian heritage it was still homely and very comfortable. The breakfast was exceptional - not necessarily in range of cold buffet, but in the quality of the ingredients and the care taken in the preparation and presentation. Lovely place and I would recommend it to those who want to relax in a homely and welcoming environment.

Room Tip: Only saw our room which was fine - a little warm so you may want the windows open so a higher floor would be better.

An overnight stay for a family event
Great location near to Sophia Gardens and the castle

Rooms nice and large, maybe a little tired around the edges, especially the bathroom but still great 'shabby chic'

Breakfast great and the staff vert attentive

Wifi a little patchy, but room warm and comfy, lovely and quiet too and happily return in future

We stayed 5 nights at the guesthouse and we had a wonderful time: the house is charming (I loved the front garden with all the different plants/flowers and the breakfast room is magnificent) and the location is very close to Cardiff town center/Castle. It is also well-located to explore places around Cardiff as it is easy to access the M4. We had a room at the back of the house and it was quiet, comfortable and lovely (in different shades of green and beige). The hosts were very pleasant, nice and helpful and the breakfast choice and quality were excellent (Paul's cooked breakfast with scrambled eggs was yummy!!!). We will come back!!!

We stayed here for 2 nights in room 3. The location is perfect as it is a short walk away from the city centre and it has private parking which was one of the things we looked for when booking.
The room was ok, lovely size shower in the en suite, although a little disappointed there was no towel rail-so we had to hang out towels over the doors which was annoying. The bed was alright, but it has given both my partner and I a sore back due to the dip in the middle of the mattress. The staff were warm and welcoming and the breakfast was lovely!
This will be a really memorable b&b because we got engaged here too!!
