Village Hotel Cardiff

Reviewed 20 August 2017

I stopped in one of the club rooms which were very spacious, clean and tastefully branded with the typical Village Hotel colours.

The bathroom was nice but show only, no bath. There were nice quality shampoo's/body moisturisers and the like in the bathroom.

The TV was a huge flat screen TV and great, and the bed was exceptionally comfortable.

Both nights of my stay which was for business I ordered room service.
The first night the food was incredibly poor, the chicken and pasta was cold and really awful I merely left this and ate the starter only.
The second night the food was better as I ordered a burger ....... but still both nights the food was at a level if I had sat in the restaurant I would have complained.

Room Tip: Club Room I believe this is number 600 onwards

We asked for and were given a quiet room which worked well for us, it was in the extension and faced away from the motorway so were able to have the windows open with no noise. The windows only open a few inches presumably for safety reasons but there was a fan in the room with remote control which helped keep us cool. Our Club room was huge, comfy bed, massive tv, but as someone else commented the lighting isn't very good for applying make up a small magnifying mirror in the bathroom might help? We also thought it odd that although the bathroom was very smart and shower huge there was nowhere to hang a towel within reach of the shower! It also seemed a bit tight not to supply tissues in the room, there was a trendy coffee machine but tissues would be more use.
The pool looked very impressive but we didn't have time to use it, and all the public areas were bright and welcoming as were the staff. We would happily stay again.

Having to go to Cardiff and being able to stay at this hotel is a blessing. From the time that you arrive at reception and meet the very helpfull staff to the moment you have to depart is always a great pleasure.
The rooms are very nice and recently refurbished. Bright and spacious. Bathrooms are modern and very clean. Excellent breakfast and a very full buffet from which to fill your plate. I stay in this hotel quite a lot as I have to attend meetings, family commitments, etc in Cardiff. I never stay anywhere else.

After spending £198 for a two night weekend break without breakfast, I did not expect to be asked for a further £5 per person per night to enjoy the leisure facilities!
This was not made apparent when booking and felt cheated when asked.
I cannot understand the logic in separating the leisure facilities.
For a Friday night we could not get any sort of food after 10.30pm, no room service available.
I will not be staying here again - very disappointed.
