“Beautifull Cottage In A Stunning Location”
Reviewed 18 April 2012 for a stay in April 2012

We rented both the Lower and Upper Bull Pens as four couples all in our mid twenties. We went to enjoy the Brecon Beacons and spend some time in the outdoors. We spent days looking for suitable cottages and we’re very pleased when we found The Bull Pens. The pictures although great don’t do it justice, it’s very spacious and beautifully finished. We used the lower bull pen as our base and only really used the upper bull pen for the two bedrooms and extra space. Both would work very well independently if you only needed two bedrooms.

The local area is full of things to do, we did a couple of amazing walks including Pen Y Fan and the stunning waterfall walk. We also hired bikes from Brecon and Canoes from Celtic Canoe Hire both were great days out. We saw plenty of stunning golf courses but only had time to play Cradoc just down the road, a beautiful course with some great views.

Bryan and Fiona were really helpful in the booking process and for the whole week we were there. They are a lovely couple and made us feel very welcome, they even came and go us when one of there cows was calfing – a great thing to experience.

Overall we can’t recommend the Bull Pens enough, the cottage is the perfect place to relax after a day out in Wales and we will definitely be returning soon.

“Spacious, well renovated and comfortably furnished contemporary barns”
Reviewed 16 April 2012 for a stay in April 2012

The Bullpens are sufficiently hidden in Brecon but close enough to the town and main A40 that they are not isolated.

On arrival in the Bullpens I was surprised how large the place was compared to the photos that I had seen on the internet. It is extremely well furnished and renovated, with luxury fittings and finishings throughout the property. Fiona gave us all a tour of the property and was willing to help us in anyway she could. We found that the property was private enough as we wanted but Fiona and Bryan were never too far away if we needed anything, like a phone number for the local take-away.

Each room had an en-suite, although only 2 rooms had showers whilst the other 2 had baths. We used the Lower Bullpen lounge and dining room throughout the stay although the Upper Bullpen is also well furnished and set up for this too. Each lounge had a log burner with a complimentary basket of logs in each Bullpen. The kitchens were well equipped and we used one kitchen for food and another for drink, although having 2 washing machines and dish washers was a great help when it came to preparing meals for 8 people. There were dish washer tablets provided also, along with other cleaning products as necessary.

The beds were extremely comfortable and every night I had an amazing nights sleep, aided by the black out blinds in each bedroom. Outside there were two decking areas and BBQs that we used on a couple of occasions to catch the evening sun.

We found that we were never short of activities in the local area and managed to walk, climb, mountain bike, golf, canoe and shop all within half an hour of the Bullpens. Cradoc Golf Course is a lovely course and was cheap for the level of service and quality they provide.

Bryan and Fiona were lovely hosts and got the level of attention they gave us perfectly balanced. It was a great opportunity to be in the midst of a working farm and get invited to see a Cow Calfing one evening.

I would thoroughly recommend this Cottage and we are definitely going to stay there again.
