How it’s called a hotel I don’t know. It’s a pub with rooms at best.
Our room was up some very narrow, steep stairs and was entered through our bathroom which was basic to say the least! The room was dark and very badly furnished. A most unpleasant place to stay. Television reception was poor and so was the Wi-Fi. Very glad we moved after one night. This place needs the Hotel Inspector and stop charging more than a Travelodge which has better rooms.

Clean but basic hotel located just outside town. Bed was comfortable, shower was a little small but ok. Nice breakfast and friendly host, enjoyed my stay. Would recommend. Only negative was it's location but ok if you have car.

I can’t believe this is the same hotel slagged off by so many people. Yes it’s old, yes it has steep stairs, yes it is on a main road and yes the trees lakeside have grown denying guests a great view, but come on guys, give it some credit. It’s several, century-old cottages knocked together, there are going to be steep stairs, quirky corridors, creaking floors, but that’s the beauty of the place. Take them away and you lose its charm. True the rooms are a bit dated, and overdue a makeover and definitely new ensuite facilities, but they are comfortable, there’s a cosy bed and it’s clean. What more can you want? Excellent for the price, about £80 per room per night bed including light breakfast. You don’t expect the Ritz, for that price, many B&Bs are dearer. I was surprised and delighted that it turned out to be far better and nicer than reviewers would have you believe. The food was great, evening meals, home cooked, tasty with plenty of choice. The public areas, dictated by the historic nature of the building, are relaxed and friendly. In all honesty It reminded me of an Alpine ski lodge. The hosts were charming and make you most welcome. Any family run business like this might have negative reviews, it’s so much easier to do that, than give praise where praise is due. You won’t get 5* luxury or 5* facilities - but you don’t pay 5* prices. Worth the money at any time, just take it as it is. As for the guest who wouldn’t even sleep here, that’s sad and uncalled for. If you want an ideal base for touring Snowdon, you can’t go far wrong here. You get what you pay for. Don’t expect the Ritz.

Hosts very friendly and accommodating location is perfect for Snowdon and Zip World and a host of other things to do in the area. Bar are and sitting area very comfortable and homely. Breakfast perfect and good VFM , evening meals hearty again good VFM. Sadly they are the only good points rooms and upstairs very very very tired and worn out felt grubby I suspect it was clean just the decor beds carpets etc need upgrading some 20 years ago.

However a perfect spot

sorry people this place needs money spent on it. the stairs are so narrow its a job to get your case up and down, the room we was is so dated and the on suit is not up to much and the lake views are restricted by high tree lines.
