“Delightful cottage”
Reviewed 24 February 2015 for a stay in February 2015

I have just return from a weekend stay in Ty siabod with some friends. We used the cottage as a base for hiking and it was perfect. Situated on the slopes of mount Siabod (pronounced shabod) there are numerous walks from the door. We had the full repertoire of Welsh weather over the weekend snow, mist, sun, wind, sideways rain but it wouldn't be a trip to the mountains without a bit of weather. The under floor heating keeps the cottage warm 24/7 but it was nice to have the log burner going in the evening for a bit of atmosphere. compared to other places i've stayed across the UK for the same money Ty Siabod is excellent value and of a higher standard than most. Well equipt kitchen and a selection of walking routes in a folder in the lounge, cakes, biscuits and tea/coffee on arrival. Only thing missing was a tea pot. The owner marilyn was quick to reply to all emails and was on hand for any problems, of which we had none.

Very enjoyable weekend and 2016 trip is being planned already

Thank you so much for your lovely review of Ty Siabod. You sure did get all kinds of weather thrown at you, so I'm glad it didn't stop you enjoying your time here. Sorry you didn't find the teapot - it is under the sink! We look forward to welcoming you back next year.
Best wishes

“Position of cottage perfect”
Reviewed 21 October 2014 for a stay in October 2014

Everything has been said before, we had the most lovely time in this beautiful cottage. Position perfect for a relaxing getaway. With so many walks from the door, so car not used. Everything has been thought of with so many extras. Loved being away from the crowds. Had no problems, so we were left alone to enjoy the peace. Weather could have been better, however with the thought of returning to our lovely cosy, warm cottage was all we needed.

“High in the hills there's a lonely goat and 3 amazing cottages”
Reviewed 6 October 2014 for a stay in October 2014

Had a wonderful week stay at Ty Siabod in a very cosy and modern cottage, tastefully decorated and awesome views for miles into the mountains. Marilyn is the owner and provides all the essentials needed for self catering including a tray of coffee, teas, hot chocolate beverages, fruit cake and welsh cakes plus wood for the living room log burner stove.
Care is needed when driving up to the cottage as the paths and bends are very narrow and steep.

Very close to good pubs, betwys y coed and good cycling routes.

We took our little dog who enjoyed playing in the enclosed garden and her walks up mt Siabod. Thoroughly recommend this place as a retreat and brilliant if you're a rambler.

“Perfection in holiday cottage form”
Reviewed 3 October 2014 for a stay in September 2014

I've been to Snowdonia more times than I can count and stayed in loads of great places, but this is undoubtedly one of the best. My Mum and Dad (both retired), my wife and daughter (4-years old), and my brother and his partner stayed in Ty Siabod in September this year. As it was the first time my parents, my girls and my brother's lady had been to North Wales I wanted it to be special as it's a place I love. The photos on the website, the pre-booking information and the follow-up correspondence all suggested that this would be the case, but the reality was so much better than expected. Firstly, the cottage is in a simply stunning location above Capel Curig on the very slopes of Moel Siabod. The landscape and views are stunning and typically Snowdonian. The cottage itself is immaculate - clean, solid and beautiful inside and out. With 7 of us there wasn't too much spare room, but enough for us to sit and eat together in the dining room or gather around the living room to make plans. The only negative is that the weather was too nice to justify using the woodburner (which, incidentally, is pre-laid and ready to use). And it gets better. Marilyn had stocked the kitchen with provisions including Welsh cakes, fruit bread, biscuits, the and coffee, and even a few lollies for my daughter! If we'd arrived late and were unable to get to a shop that night, we wouldn't have gone hungry! The kitchen isn't huge, but who wants to spend all their time in the kitchen?! We took it in turns to cook or wash up and it all worked brilliantly. Likewise, there is only the one bathroom (but there are two toilets), which means a bit of a queue following a sweaty walk in the mountains. But if you're all friends that's not a big issue either - we had no difficulties at all. But it's the little personal touches that make the real difference. From the hand-written card welcoming us to Ty Siabod to the message on the chalk-board wishing us a good stay, our entire experience made us feel that we were welcome and respected guests, rather than just paying customers. Like I said at the outset, I've stayed in several places in Snowdonia (mostly for my work) but I simply can not recommend this cottage enough. We can't wait to go back. If you're thinking of booking, do it now before the owners wise up, realise just how good their property and service is and put their prices up! You won't regret it.

“excellent, problem with water”
Reviewed 15 September 2014 for a stay in September 2014

We had an excellent stay. Good accommodation and brilliant location; helped by a sunny and rainfree week but I am afraid we can't promise that for everyone. We only lit the woodburner once so didn't nearly get through our first basket of logs.

They brought about 1000 sheep off the hill while we were there; very interesting.

A few negatives so people know in case they matter to them.
- Narrow kitchen awkward for two people to work.
- Dining room separated from kitchen by living room.

Biggest problem for our stay was an issue with the water. The owners are trying to get that fixed so it should be OK in future. For us it meant the shower ran out several times (we are not excessive shower users) and we gave up trying to have a bath; and there was a very noisy pump going a lot of the time and really reverberating through the rooms. I've knocked off one star because that is how it turned out for us; would have been ***** otherwise, and I hope will be again soon.

First of all may I thank you for your review, I thought it was very kind of you considering the inconvenience caused to you by the problems we were having with the water. Very happy to report that the bore hole pump is being replaced as we speak so no more loud noises from it and no more water shortages! We had a problem with manganese being dragged into the system which completely clogged the pump. The pump therefore was working overtime to compensate. The only way to stop the pump from continuously being on, was to reduce the water pressure, so solving one problem temporarily, caused another. I am so sorry for the major inconvenience this caused for you during your stay. If you would like to book with us anytime in the future, I am more than happy to give you a 50% discount.
Best wishes, Marilyn
