“Idilic Cabin”
Reviewed 30 August 2016 for a stay in August 2016

My Wife and I stayed in the cabin for a wonderful week in August 2016. We were lucky to have 6 days of dry, mostly hot sun, and one day of clouds and rain (it is Wales after all) but to be honest, we would have enjoyed the stay whatever.

The views and location are excellent. The place looks new but from the visitor book it's been there a few years. I think that just shows how well it's looked after.

The kitchen was very well stocked for pots, pans and china. We even changed our plans and eat in every night to make the most of it. Shopping can be a bit of a pain as you need to drive to the coast to do a full shop, but we did it once when we arrived and a small top-up near the end. We went to Bangor as there is a selection.

The best thing by far is the veranda and views. Loads of birds flitting about and were eating our crumbs of the decking by the end of the week. There is a couple of recliners which were great to sit in at the end of the day.

The road is close by but as it's higher than the roofline and behind a stone wall you don't hear much. The location is good for seeing most of North Wales. it seems like everything is 45 mins away or less. The best place we visited was Bodnant Garden, Colwyn Bay, which was 20 mins to the north.

There was only one negative, the shower is very small. We are not big people, but if you drop the soap your in trouble. Not a lot of room to bend over!

This isn't 5 star accommodation, but your not paying 5 star prices. It was Excellent value for money, and if being in a quiet location with great views and all the essentials is all you need, then try this one.

Oh, BTW, no wifi, which as an IT Project Manager was another bonus. Enforced rest and relaxation.

Thank you for booking with Best of Wales and your very helpful comments. We are glad you found lots to do and good to hear that you felt being in the property with the views was worth staying in for. Getting away from emails can a bonus and a "great way to digitally detox". Be great to welcome you back again soon. Suzanne- Best of Wales Team

“A peaceful base for exploring Snowdonia”
Reviewed 25 April 2015 for a stay in April 2015

A lovely cabin in a peaceful spot with good hosts nearby if needed. We mountain biked, ran, summited Snowdon and climbed Tryfan. There's so much more still to do and we will definitely be back. Our two children were with us and enjoyed it as much as we did.

“Truly fabulous - the Alps come to Wales”

We had a fabulous week in Caban Betws. The views from the caban/decking are truly amazing and it is in such an idyllic location. We enjoyed so much in just 1 week, much straight from the caban door. We walked to Lynn Elsi, swam in the river below, cycled through the woods opposite, cycled to Betws, walked up the pyg track to Snowdon and back down the miners' track, biked in Coed Y Brenin, walked to miner's bridge, paddled in the river at Betws, watched the steam trains at Tan Y Bwlch, caught the train at Llanberis round the lake, took advantage of a visit to the free slate museum in Llanberis too.

I did a massive food shop before our arrival which meant we only had to buy bread and milk from the local shops, therefore saving a small fortune. The caban had everything we needed and was spotlessly clean and comfortable.

We would definitely book again though might go without the children who sadly spent much of the week arguing c'est la vie!!! :)

“Perfect place to celebrate end of GCSE's”

This is a great find. Beautiful views from the sun deck, well appointed cabin conveniently located for mountain bike trails and the adventures that North Wales has to offer.

We wanted to have a family break to celebrate the end of our son's GCSE's so the holiday was tailored with a 15 year old lad in mind. Could not have been better. The cabin offers a place to hang out and chill after a full on days mountain biking.

It is possible to cycle to the Penmancho trails from the property (only the first half mile on main roads). The famous Marin trail is only a few miles away. You must also have a day on Snowdon, this is a day that will stay with the 3 of us forever - a bus runs from Betws to Llanberis and Pen-y-Pass so you can ascend and descend by different routes.

There is also a free car park in Betws, opposite the station, but you will need to get there early.

A huge thank you to the family at Caban Betws for making our holiday so special and for all the biking advise.

I can't express how amazing this place is. It's beautiful as is the location, relaxing. It's not remote but you feel like your the only person here. Owners are lovely and place is spotless. Can't fault it at all. We will be coming back.
