The cottage is only a short drive from Betws y coed, yet is brilliantly remote, accessed via a locked barrier & forest track. You don't need a 4WD.
Heading out from the cottage on foot or bike, you're off exploring the beauty of Snowdonia National Park. The Gwydir (aka Marin) mountain bike trial is set in the surrounding Gwydir Forest, and if you need a bit more adventure, Surf Snowdonia isn't too far away by car.
The cottage is the perfect mix of old & new, with exposed wooden beams & stone fireplace, alongside modern furnishings & appliances. It's easily big enough for 6.
The garden gets plenty of sun despite being surrounded by trees, and we loved sitting out at night, taking in the stars & passing satellites, seldom seen back home.
Anne's DVD collection and 2 cosy sofa's made for relaxing evenings after busy days.
The kid's, dog's & adults all had a great week. Holiday blues never hit so hard.
Best cottage in the best location... we have all totally fell in love with this place .... Dottie the dog especially loved the garden ... very secluded ... very special ... all needs catered for ... wee village of llanwrst closer than betws y coed if getting takeaway ... eating out the stables in betws y coed is fabulous and very friendly ... communication with Anne and Mark fabulous (we didnt want to leave and return to real life) xxx
We enjoyed our stay at the cottage. It is very secluded which suited us. Access is via a forestry track (long route, key provided for gate) or short drive which is accessible with a 4 wheel vehicle. The cottage was clean, well equipped and nicely decorated, the beds were very comfortable. A bonus was getting a Tesco delivery for the week and as pre-arranged, the driver rang when he was 10 minutes away and we met him to collect the delivery. The local spar in Betws Y Coed was very expensive. Garden was lovely and it was nice being able to walk from the cottage however, I would recommend bringing midge repellent. My husband also mountain biked from the cottage - there are lots of forest tracks and he rode some of the Marin Trail which is quite technical & the forest in general is very hilly so lots of steep climbs and descents. We climbed Snowdon and Tryfan which are within 30 minutes drive and mountain biked in Coed Y Brenin and One Planet near Llangollen which are about an hour away - both recommended. The kids loved the newly opened Fforest Coaster in Betws Y Coed - they also do zip lining there. The cottage is a great location for an adventurous, outdoors holiday although it would not be a hardship to spend time in the cottage either - we made full use of the DVD's in the evening.
Thank you Anne for a lovely stay!
