Once again another perfect stay at the Chainbridge. Perfect setting, lovely staff and reasonable prices, Big cooked breakfast and good selection of lunchtime bar meals. We will be returning again soon.

Quirky and amazing

Wow, what a location. Stunning remote setting that encourages you to switch off.

Night 1 - food - good value, tasty veg lasagne. A couple of beers and 4 glasses of wine.

Breakfast was good, full veg English served by Susan. A scouser but we won't hold that against her ;)

Room 8 is a nice size with a decent bathroom and a great balcony over looking the river Dee, and Berwyn station. A lovely view when the river is in spate. Can imagine sitting there in the summer watching the birds on the water and the steam trains chuffing past of an evening.

Night 2 - meal in the restaurant served again by the lovely Susan. Risotto each, as we've now exhausted the menu of veggie options. Lovely tasty meal, with a nice bottle of wine looking out at the rushing water.

Sitting by the fire finishing the wine makes it feel like the real world is a million miles away. Such a relaxing spot with minimal to no phone reception and wifi only in the bar area, means we've spent downtime together.

Night 3 we ate in Llangollen for a change. And still we walked back along the canal in the dark. Truly a special spot.

Yes it has some quirks if you're used to a brand new hotel (wifi as mentioned and an unmanned reception on a Sunday night after a certain time) and yes the car park is a challenge if you've got a massive car (or drive like a fool) but the charm of this place more than makes up for any other quirky bits.

Have recommended to many already and will definitely be back in the summer to watch the world go by and have a trip in the train.

Went to have a few days away at this excellent hotel. The first room we were given had a few problems but we were soon changed to a new room which was lovely with the balcony on the riverside.. Staff were very good and so was the breakfast. Thought meal prices were a little high. Lots of attractions in the area or you can just sit on your balcony and enjoy the view. Lots of wildlife and also the steam train when running. Would go again

Room Tip: Chose riverside room

The location was just perfect , we had an upgraded room from canal side to riverside when we arrived due to a cancellation,, We accepted and were extremely pleased paying the extra £10 , Although the room wasn't huge it was very welcoming,,, The views were beautiful, we found the noise from the water was very relaxing. Not sure if it was as clean as it could have been but it was comfortable. We felt the bathroom let it down and was a little old fashioned and it need to be upgraded to match the rest of the décor. The wifi wasnt working in the bedroom , we were told it could only be picked up in one of the rooms near the reception We decided to eat in the restaurant which we also found to be in need of an upgrade as it all looked so tired.. We ordered our starters and really enjoyed it , the main course mine was --okay-- but my husband decided to have a steak which he didn't enjoy, the size of the steak was disappointing for the money charged he struggled to eat it as it was quite fatty and it was not cooked as he asked , he ended up leaving it . The waitress asked if everything was okay as the steak was barely touched my husband explained why he hadn't eaten it , that was the last we heard, no offer of a refund or replacement. As we didn't want to spoil our special evening we didn't take it any further but it was disappointing especially as it was one of the more expensive meals on the menu. The breakfast was really good and eat as much as you want menu , that proved to be welcoming before our journey home,,
I don't think we have ever stayed anywhere and moaned about the heating but it was on full blast all night and no means of turning it down or off in the room ... It was way too hot in the room and we ended up getting up in the night and sitting outside leaving the doors open to cool the room down,,, We covered the radiator with our coats to try and cool the room down, We did mention it as we left and apparently we weren't the only ones to say it was to hot...It is a lovely place to visit and would love to stop there again as there are many place to see in the area .......Don't by pass----take a look !

Room Tip: riverside rooms are the best

Thank you for taking the time to review the hotel following your stay.

I'm pleased that there were so many positives to your stay, but you obviously raise a few other things that need work or looking at - which is just what we will do.

It's great to know that you would stop here at The Chainbridge again, and we will look forward to welcoming you back.

Kind regards
Seamus
