We have stayed at this hotel and sadly it was not a good experience. Yes, the pictures look amazing, right next to the castle. That is how we decided to stay there. At the reception you have to wait for the bar lady to finish pouring everyone s drinks. Then with much effort she showed us our room. She then told us that there would be a live band playing that evening directly underneath our room. The room smelled of old cooking oil as it is next to the kitchen. It went on till 11:15 pm. Children didn't sleep. We were out of there the next morning at 7. We paid for breakfast, but didn't even bother. I wanted to see the owner, but was informed he had a late night and is still sleeping. If you want stay there with a family-please don't. If you organise a bachelors party-go for it!

We called in here on a sunny Saturday for lunch after a visit to the castle. The location is perfect with a large outside seating area with views of the river and Menai Straights.
The bar staff were friendly and helpful. There was a good selection of beers.
There is a menu with a good range of meals. I had mussels which came in a delicious creamy sauce with a hunk of crusty bread.
Others had fish and chips which went down well. The gammon and chips was also a great success.
Would recommend.

The pub is situated on the coast , fantastic view out over the sea. Lovely picnic tables. Perfect spot for lunch on a sunny day we thought. The pub was understaffed, with only 1 heavily pregnant waitress. Although I felt sorry for her being rushed off her feet, I was taken aback when another customer asked for their food to be heated up. She stormed past us with the plate, fuming under her breath :-( It didn't add to the holiday atmosphere !
Our food was disappointing ,a ploughmans which arrived without butter or pickle, a piece of dry baguette and an overwhelming amount of cheese ! Enough for two plus !!! To their credit , I was given pickle as soon as I asked for some. The side order of chips was a paultry affair, a meagre portion of sad looking chips :-( Finally, the wait to get a second drink was about 20 mins . Not impressed , sorry .

If you are in the area and the weather is good then this place is well worth a visit.

Please note.. this review is not concerning any accommodation at the Angelsey Arms about which we ha e no knowledge or experience.

We have visited a few times over recent years and note that some welcome improvements have been made to the lounge / main dining area although you can dine throughout the pub and outside.

We visited on a typical weekend daytime and as ever there was something going on. We have found there is regular live music ranging from solo artists to full blown band setups.

We had a sandwich lunch sitting inside and the range on offer and quality was fine for us. The 'toasted triple decked club sandwich' was particularly good. There is a decent range of real ales and ciders etc

The real beauty of the premises is the location.... situated on the edge of the castle walls with amazing views out onto the Menai Strait, on a clear and sunny day the outside seating area is quite spectacular. We enjoyed the whole afternoon watching the world go by.

Called in here for something to eat and decided on a couple of sandwiches. I had ham and mustard on brown, whilst my partner had beef and horseradish on brown. The issue my partner was the amount of horseradish on the sandwich. There was also a fair bit of mustard on the ham sandwich so maybe the maker just got carried away. Everything else was fine.
