Owner description: After all these years Caernarfon’s immense strength remains undimmed. A brute of a fortress. Caernarfon Castle’s pumped-up appearance is unashamedly muscle-bound and intimidating. Picking a fight with this massive structure would have been a daunting prospect. By throwing his weight around in stone, King Edward I created what is surely one of the most impressive of Wales’s castles. Worthy of World Heritage status no less.

I thoroughly enjoyed my visit, despite the poor weather.
It was fascinating to learn about the history of the building and of Wales in general.

I would love to visit again when it was not so wet, windy and cold.

A great way to spend a few hours for people interested in castles and medieval buildings.

Thank Graham K

Visited the castle with visiting family who live abroad, the weather was fantastic which was a bonus, spent a good few hours walking around and seeing the exhibitions.

An amazing castle in such excellent state of preservation with so much to explore. It would be difficult for the not so fit as many steep stairs to climb to get the fantastic views from the towers. Plenty of signage to explain the layout of the castle and you are given an informative leaflet, with map of the castle, on entering. There is an interesting video, well worth watching at the start of your visit, giving the history and there is footage of Prince Charles investiture as Prince of Wales. Within one of the towers there is a Military museum which we didn't have time to visit. On leaving do turn left and walk down to the river and cross the pedestrian bridge to get stunning views of the castle from the other side,

A must do for us on a trip to Wales due to the kids favourite cartoon. Excellent castle, it's got lots of towers to climb to the top of and lots of walls to walk along. Obviously it all narrow staircases and twisty corridors, but with careful navigation our toddler managed ok. Kids had a monster hunt with a sticker prize. No food on site.

Without a doubt, this is my favourite UK castle. It looks like a proper castle with big imposing walls, right on the Menai Strait.

You can park close by if you want. You can walk all the way round the castle and get some great photos of it.
