Owner description: Windsor Castle is the oldest and largest occupied castle in the world and offers an extraordinarily rich and varied day out. Throughout its history, the Castle has been redecorated, enlarged and rebuilt. Today The Queen spends most of her private weekends at the Castle, which is also used regularly for ceremonial and State occasions. Your ticket to Windsor Castle includes entry to our exhibition Waterloo at Windsor.

I absolutely recommend seeing this. Get your tickets online before coming because the line or queue to get a ticket is extremely long. We toured the castle with the audio device included in the price of admission. It is amazing to see the castle and the treasures that are in it. We took about 3 hours to see everything except the doll house because the line was way too long. After you’re done exploring the castle there are a ton of little shops and places the eat to make a day out of it.

On my way to London from Highclere Castle (Downton Abbey), the taxi passed Windsor Castle. The changing of the guard was passing through the street, so we decided to wait for them to emerge from the castle. The wait paid off, and we saw the full pageantry! A must for anglophiles!

Well worth a visit!
We queued for around 30 minutes but as the queue kept moving it didn't seem that long.In the meantime we, coincidentally, arrived in time for the changing of the guard.
The audio tour (part of the entrance fee) was concise and very helpful.
The State Rooms and Queen Mary's Dolls House were very interesting but the highlight was St George's Chapel and, in particular, the wonderful Easter flower displays. Absolutely magnificent.

Amazing place to visit. The history is over the top and the rooms and access are great. Allow yourself at least 1/2 of a day to see all of London's best history and splendor. The works of art and detail of woodwork, stain-glass windows are fabulous. The Chapel as well as the multiple buildings all are a work of splendor. It is a long trip via the tube and railroad but again well worth the effort. You can listen to all the detail unfold via a headset given to you upon entrance.

We went on Tuesday and had such a great day. It was good timing when we arrived as the changing of the guards was about to take place. The queue to get in around 12/12.30 was approximately 30 minutes. Audio tour was available and for children too. Very helpful. Beautiful place and great to go when you knew that the royal wedding is taking place next month! Lots of souvenirs to buy based around that. The flag was up so knowing the Queen was at home was a buzz! The kids, 9 and 6 years, were more interested than normal knowing it was the home of the queen so they took more notice and kept trying to get a glimpse!
Some seating around but could be more for younger and older people.
