This is a real gem. It has two auditoria with a widely varied programme of shows etc. They show cinema, live music, dance , comedy and everything else you can think of! Friendly staff and a nice cafe serving pre-show meals plus drinks and snacks. Arrive early to avoid parking problems though. I thoroughly recommend a visit -check out the programme online.

Thank Angela H

Visited today for the first time with my 6 year old for the give it a go Day. I was really impressed with the variety of events on offer, from magic to ukelele playing and lollipop making. Also the fact that events were tailored to a specific age range (5-7 for us). The brochure showed the astonishing range of things on offer at the centre. It must have a seriously dynamic management to offer such a diverse and interesting programme.

At £4 per hour session it was really good value and an accessible price point.

We enjoyed all the sessions. I felt like there were a few too many kids in the magic one (probably 22 to one guy). He was struggling to deal with that many to be honest. Content was good though and my son loved taking tricks home.

The numbers worked better when there were two adults in the circus and theatre workshops. Circus skills had loads of equipment to try out and a patient teacher, even in the face of a couple of vocal kids.

My only criticism would be that the way it worked meant that parties tended to bag a table and stay there for the duration. It was a bit cheeky when they weren’t even buying the cafe food. We had planned to have a coffee and snack and then lunch but we didn’t because we couldn’t sit down.

Overall it’s opened my eyes to an excellent arts venue. We will definitely become regulars.

We had a lovely meal here yesterday just before a show at Norden Farm as part of a meal deal. We would heartily recommend you give this a try. The food was very lovely and portions were huge ! Coming as part of a meal deal the value was even better. The staff are friendly and helpful though its a bar service where you have to order at the bar rather than they come to table. The only suggestion we would offer is a slightly better range of wine selection.

Light and airy building and good atmosphere.
Good parking if you get there early.
Good pre theatre food and thoughtful menu- pricier than expected.
Amazingly clean loos as was the entire building.
Good, polite service and great to see staff clearing tables and keeping things moving.
Theatre space good and well ventilated, although seats not the most comfortable.

Visited a few times so far this year for the comedy nights, there's a great range of stand ups usually trying out their material so I try to make it at least once a month. It seems to be a victim of its own success though, tough luck if you want a sit down and have a few snacks/drinks if there's a show in the main theatre. You can purchase a reserved table at the time of booking, which is any two courses for £12. However even though we arrived an hour before the show we were warned there was a half hour wait for food. It was only 20 minutes in the end, but a little more seating is really needed. Or maybe let us into the theatre with our chips and drinks! There's not much parking, you will likely need to go next door to the overflow carpark at Altwood school if it's a busy night.

The food served is standard cafe dishes (the sides are huge, massive bowls of chips in particular which are very welcome!) If you haven't finished your beer/wine before the show starts then you can have a plastic cup to take it in with. Lovely, cheery staff. Great atmosphere.
