“Excellent Hotel in Leeds City Centre”
Reviewed 20 March 2012

Recently stayed in the Doubletree by Hilton for a weekend. On arrival the receptionsist was very helpful in explaining where things were in the city and reccomended areas to find restaurants and bars which was very helpful. The room was very clean and a good size. Lots of useful extras in the room such as the apple tv, iron, wine glasses etc. Staff in the bars were very polite, do watch though as drinks are very expensive. Breakfast was ok, nothing special though and not worth the full price of £15. Carpark is very handy as opposite the hotel, we left the car and didn't use it until we left on the Sunday. The car parking is £12 a day. Location of the hotel was excellent, a 10 minute walk into town. Lovely surroundings on the canal. Would stay again if in Leeds and would reccomend to anyone, top class hotel at a very reasonable price. Note: make sure you use the postcode suggested on the website not listed as the address post code when using satnav.

Room Tip: I would pick a room facing the canal as you don't get views and noise from the train station.

Last stayed here when it was a Mint Hotel & glad to say nothing has changed if anything it has got even better.

Checkin was quick & on a Friday night all of reception was manned so lines were kept to a minimum, lovely chocolate cookie handed out to welcome you to the hotel which was a nice new Doubletree touch. Allocated room 735 on 7th floor overlooking the canal & it was as requested, away from elevator, well done Doubletree. As a Hilton Honors Gold member I was also given a complimentary 375ml bottle of white wine which was again a nice new Doubletree touch.

Room was on the corner so a little larger than last time I stayed here, bed was slightly soft but did not hinder sleep, a/c worked well and good room. Tea/coffee & kettle in room along with fully stocked minibar and iron for last minute creases you want ironing out ! Bathroom was the same, no tub, only a large shower cubicle & lots of White Company gels.

Breakfast was outstanding , freshly cooked to order & served piping hot on a warm plate ( as it should) you had a choice of which items you wanted & it was served to you. There was usual assortment of cheeses, cereals, fruits, coldcuts & pastries from the buffet if you wanted more. A perfect start to your day. Tea/Coffee & toast were all brought to you so no waiting by the toaster.Could not fault it, especially on Sunday morning when it was even busier, they managed very well.

Did have a drink up in the SkyLounge on Friday night which was good, all three lifts were working, so no bother getting up there or to room. Could not fault the hotel, non -hotel parking is £5 under railway arches & it is free on the surrounding streets after 6 on a Saturday night & free on Sunday so not really an issue.

We stayed here with another couple for a friends birthday it was in an ideal location rooms are on the small size even though they were king suites but ideal for what we needed plenty of complimentary items in bathroom, view of the canal was lovely. We booked breakfast seperate at £9.95 if you booked the night before instead of £15.95 it was worth it as there was plenty of selection and the cooked breakfast was brought to the table. Drinks in the sky lounge are rather expensive but nice atomosphere. The only crticism is trying to get to your room on a Saturday night when there is a queue for the lift for the sky lounge and most of the breakfast staff dont speak much english so got confused a few times but very friendly.

Room Tip: choose canal view

There are so many good hotels in Leeds and we thought we would try this one after visiting the Skylounge bar on a recent night out. From start to finish it was excellent, reception staff were really friendly and helpful, nice warm cookies given to take to our room. Room was on the small side but modern, really comfortable and had everything in it what you would need. Excellent bed, had a great nights sleep. Just love the Skylounge bar on 13th floor, really cool and trendy with a wide age range of drinkers, great drinks and cocktails and fantastic views over Leeds. Breakfast was the best we've ever had in a hotel, loads to choose from and the hot food came from the kitchen via table service - eggs benedict was proper gorgeous! The place had a really good vibe and i think a lot of this was down to the staff as they are just so friendly. Will definitely stay again on our next visit.

Been to Leeds many times for a day visit so decided on a longer stay we chose the doubletree after comparing it with other city centre hotels parking was a little tricky but didn't take long to find somewhere close by check in was fine however not a lot of information was given as to breakfast times and location etc or the usual info given at other hotels where I normally stay having said that when asked staff were very polite and informative rooms were very clean and tidy bars were very spacious drinks were on par with hotel prices good variety of cocktails location was very central overall a good week end would definitely return and pleased to recommend to friends and family well done doubletree !!!!
