Three of us (Mum, Dad and Son aged 12) stayed in this very modern well-appointed, semidetached 2 bedroom cottage in Chichester during the October half term holidays 2015.
We were the first to stay and the owners were very helpful and friendly and left us a bottle of wine and some milk to say hello. Very thoughtful!
The property itself was only 2 years old, nicely decorated throughout and when we stayed everything was either new or in excellent condition. None of the rooms in the house are particularly large but adequate for the task and storage space was good throughout. Parking is very good with 2 spaces at the back leading directly in from the back garden.
Upstairs the bedrooms are a twin and a double with a very modern and clean family bathroom between them.
Moving downstairs there is the front door/entrance hall area with toilet off to one side. The kitchen is very modern and well provisioned with fridge/freezer, oven, extractor fan, microwave, compact dishwasher (very useful!) and washing machine. You can't eat in the kitchen but the dining and living area is close by.
As you go into the lounge there is a dining table that will seat 4. The lounge has a corner seat sofa arrangement with a new Flatscreen TV directly in front. The Wi-Fi works very well throughout the house and in the small garden at the rear of the property.
Eating out in Chichester was great and some Gluten free options exist if required - particularly in the ASK restaurant. The property is only a mile from the rather gorgeous Chichester old town centre and its parades of good shops and restaurants. The lovely old Cathedral (unusually free to go inside) and gardens are a joy to stroll around if you like that sort of thing. We went to Fishbourne Roman Palace which was interesting and then to East Head which is a large National Trust owned beach/sand dunes area. The next day we drove all the way to Exbury Gardens which we loved.
Now one point is that this house is close to a main road. Whilst for the vast majority of time it wasn't a problem for us, the morning rush hour may bother some people in the front double bedroom. So it loses one star for that. However the payoff is that the property is easy to find and it’s quick to get into and out of Chichester town centre (traffic permitting!).
And this self-catering cottage has a one final ace to play. Its only 1-2 mins walk (literally) to a very modern and well stocked Co Op. We bought warm fresh pastries for breakfast each day and sandwiches etc for lunch out. This is just a dream setup compared with some other self-catering places we have stayed at over the years which end up being miles from the shops. If you decide you want a bottle of wine with your evening meal – at this property you don't have to go far to buy it!
