Description: Our passion for local produce at the Crown and Anchor is at the heart of everything that we do. In order to bring you the freshest possible seafood, we write a daily menu dictated by what our local boats have landed that morning. Whether it be Dover Sole, landed in Bracklesham Bay by the Crew of the Kraken, or fresh lobster picked by the Crew of the Toby Rock...we can guarantee that almost all of our fish hasn’t traveled far from the sea to your plate. Our drinks range centres around the real ales that we are proud to call Young’s own; we also have a range of seasonal guests and a wine list that encompasses all tastes as far as grapes, origin and style goes. For the drivers and health conscious, we’re frequently expanding our soft drink range and there’s always teas and coffees on offer too.

We have been to this pub many times in the past and then again more recently and to be fair it has changed a lot over the years. From cozy pub overlooking the harbour selling pub food to now with it's "gastropub" credentials plastered all over the walls and plaques and photos of the staff and their favorite fish. What about us I thought, where are our testimonials? For me, it's gone too foody, too "chefy" and far too expensive. Fish and Chips were good, not great and I've had far better chips for a fraction of the price and the batter doesn't need samphire really but the fish could be skinned and at £15 that's not asking a lot really. 250ml of unremarkable Shiraz £9 is an insult when better restaurants offer better labels at more reasonable prices. All in all, it's all too expensive and the food not exceptional even if we can see what's going on at the "pass". We had a good meal if I'm being fair to you but at £120 for four with only two glasses of wine and two pints of beer it did make us raise an eyebrow, Finally, the service charge is not included when given the confusion it caused when we wanted it added to the bill and then the bill divided by two did cause some confusion for some reason. Success may have been achieved by the owners of this pub but having so many people crammed into space was not comfortable and at times we were unable to hear our conversation. So, sorry after many years we won't be back as we fear you have overstretched yourselves and lost your soul. I'm sure you won't miss us though.

Hi Richard B,

Thanks for your recent visit to us at Dell Quay. I am really sorry to hear that you had such a negative experience during your visit. Over that past three years we have put an enormous effort into improving and updating the food offering at The Crown and Anchor, as it was previously rated very poorly for its food. The changes have been very well received and frequently reflected in the great feedback we have received, both anecdotally and on Trip Advisor. In fact, in the last 12 months we have received a Sunday Times TOP 20 places to eat in the UK listing and two other food related awards.

So it is a huge disappointment when we have a customer who's experience doesn't concur with all the work we have put in.

With regards to value for money, unlike many establishments all our ingredients are sourced fresh from the finest, local suppliers and cooked to order by our team of Chef's on site, rather than 'heat it up' options you find in many other pubs serving food at a low end price point. Therefore, I agree, there are more value places one can dine in the area, but we believe that we are delivering a menu of quality that is priced appropriately for the level of of quality, ingredients and service on offer.

I do hope that we will have the chance to welcome you back again sometime and would be more that keen to have a further chat with you about this, if you would like to discuss? You can contact me direct at: crownandanchor@youngs.co.uk

Once again thank you for your recent visit and feedback.

Excellent welcome and service, very attentive staff. We had sea bass with the most gorgeous orange butter on the sapphire, beautiful flavour. The chocolate brownie was superb too. Dog friendly too which was great as we usually have to sit outside some establishments with our pooch. 100% recommend eating here.

This place is magnificent . Views absolutely superb , good choice of beers , a fantastic menu and beautifully cooked . We had walked our two lurchers from the nearby rspb site to pagham harbour and back and dropped in here on the off chance . Mid week and very busy so I would suggest if visiting at the weekend or evenings booking is a must . We were made very welcome as soon we got through the door and the fact that we had two lurchers did not appear to present a problem . We were found a table with a lovely view out of the open window looking down the channel. On a nice day you could sit out on the decking for even better views and the seating is very good quality . Food orders taken quickly and served promptly and totally delicious . A place to visit again and again . Pub parking is limited and I noticed a lot of people parking on the yellow lines. Be warned ! The area is actively patrolled , you wouldn’t want to come out and find you’ve got a ticket .

The pub has different cozy rooms with large windows or warm fireplace. Even outside is nice with lots of tables near the shore. The food was nice, we had seabass with samphire and potatoes. The price as expected for seafood. And most of all is dog friendly! We will certainly come back!

Booked at table for 8 (plus two dogs) for an early supper on Easter Sunday. Considering this must be one of their busiest services they were so very accommodating and helpful. The table had a fab view, the service was fast and friendly Food was of excellent quality- the cod loin was delicious. Highly recommended but do book to avoid disappointment.
