We have been to this pub many times in the past and then again more recently and to be fair it has changed a lot over the years. From cozy pub overlooking the harbour selling pub food to now with it's "gastropub" credentials plastered all over the walls and plaques and photos of the staff and their favorite fish. What about us I thought, where are our testimonials? For me, it's gone too foody, too "chefy" and far too expensive. Fish and Chips were good, not great and I've had far better chips for a fraction of the price and the batter doesn't need samphire really but the fish could be skinned and at £15 that's not asking a lot really. 250ml of unremarkable Shiraz £9 is an insult when better restaurants offer better labels at more reasonable prices. All in all, it's all too expensive and the food not exceptional even if we can see what's going on at the "pass". We had a good meal if I'm being fair to you but at £120 for four with only two glasses of wine and two pints of beer it did make us raise an eyebrow, Finally, the service charge is not included when given the confusion it caused when we wanted it added to the bill and then the bill divided by two did cause some confusion for some reason. Success may have been achieved by the owners of this pub but having so many people crammed into space was not comfortable and at times we were unable to hear our conversation. So, sorry after many years we won't be back as we fear you have overstretched yourselves and lost your soul. I'm sure you won't miss us though.
