Had an evening meal here on a Friday - booking seems to be essential. Full by 7.30 pm.

Friendly welcome and the rear garden has stunning views out over the South Downs from which to enjoy a pleasant pre-dinner beer and glass of wine.

The service in the restaurant was very efficient. The food did not disappoint. The special of grilled gilthead bream fillet was lovely. The smoked chicken, bacon and mango salad starter also hit the spot.

Wow heard about the food and service but never been here before.
7 family members and all enjoyed the food.
Such a busy place and suggest you book your table to make sure you sample the food.

We were a family of six and luckily had booked as when we got there it had a sign outside saying it was full , so make sure you do book to be on the safe side . It was fantastic service and the food was excellent too . I had fish and chips which was very good and the others all had different things which they all really enjoyed . The ploughman's lunch was huge as was the seafood selection , easily enough for two to share . The chocolate brownie was the best I have ever tasted , crisp on top and soft in the middle and a really rich chocolate taste . Yum ! Well worth a visit if you are in the area .

Flew 13 hours into Gatwick and checked into Amberley Castle. We were too tired to endure fine dining at the castle and looked for a quick meal at this pub.
We sat outside in beautiful spring. Breathtaking views. Too bad chairs and tables were filthy.
Cod was good. Baby ribs were too dry.
Needed to order and pay at bar. Service virtually non-existent.

A pub I've been to regularly since my Upper Sixth (several light years ago). returned with my partner to a decidedly strange reception by the staff. Food no better than average, service slow. Prices high compared to local competitors. Sadly, will not be returning in a hurry.
