Cheap and cheerful hotel, the room was run down and tired. The toilet was hanging off the wall and the bath wasn’t clean (used bar of soap on the side) no bedside table either. Just average. Could be so much better

City centre hotel with old fashioned rooms. No wifi in the rooms, sometimes the rooms smell bad. I have stayed several times given that you get sometimes good prices. The best attribute of this hotel is the location.

On the whole the three course meal was good value for money. I had the soup, which was reasonable, the turkey dinner which was really tasty and there were generous helpings of vegetables. I even quite enjoyed the overcooked sprouts. I finished with lemon merinque pie which was again adequate. The food was plentiful and served on warm plates and we were offered extra gravy. The slow service was the only thing that really let it down. A dish of roast potatoes was not cleared away after the main course and remained on the table until the end of the meal.

Very dated.
Far too hot.
Terrible breakfast, no fresh coffee, fruit was frozen.
Couldn’t get a drink at 11pm.
Hopefully never stay there again especially as the room had a distinctive odour to it.
Shower curtain seemed to attract to skin.

I would describe this venue as equivalent to a 2* Greek hotel, but without the warm welcome. The 6th floor double room had beaten up furniture, windows with gaps in, covered by grubby net curtains. The tiny tv sat on a small table in the corner not visible from the bed. Not their fault, but the city centre seems like one large building site with pile drivers noise from early morning. Breakers was good with polite staff. The cost at £120 was excessive. Would suggest one stays in a pleasant riverside hotel just out of the city, and taxi in.

Recommend the Old Windmill 15th century pub in the city, then by a take out beer and across the road to My Dhabba Asian restaurant (no alcohol on sale but no charge for bring your own) for a really lush good value meal.
