The food, staff and surroundings are excellent but there is one draw back when booking for Sunday Lunch - afternoon tea parties especially large groups! Yesterday to our horror a Wedding Shower of over 10 ladies with a toddler and screaming baby were being served afternoon tea and this was at 1.00 p.m There were at least another 4 tables having afternoon tea whilst we had booked the Sunday Lunch menu which was excellent.
Last time we visited there was a baby shower and again the women were noisy. I have no objection to mixing the two even though I personally would not like afternoon tea at lunch time but when having large groups of women do feel the hotel should consider the other guests and maybe use another room. My Mother found the noise which seemed to echo throughout the dining area very unpleasant and reduced the amount of conversation we could have with her because she struggled to hear us.

Dear Guest

Thank you for your feedback, the brasserie is mixed use area on weekend and our afternoon tea is another option of what is on offer at the hotel, we do when possible use our private event areas for teas, but this is not always possible when we are busy.

we are currently looking at how we can create a dedicated afternoon tea room for weekends, and we will keep you posted once this is created.

Kind Regards

Steven

Four of us went for a double birthday celebration. Best afternoon tea we've had.
Might seem a little expensive at first glance but when you consider the setting, quality and the fact that the beverages are unlimited, you can request extra savoury and sweet items and a doggy bag then it's pretty good value!
The staff were super attentive and professional..thank you Ellie, Leah and Lewis. Also impressed that when we booked the member of staff heard me in the background mention it was for a birthday.... Our reserved table had a birthday balloon... a really nice touch. All in all a fab experience. We are now planning a return visit for a restaurant meal or a Sunday lunch

As one of the party commented this was the probably the slowest service he could recall. And added this was when the restaurant was not even busy. Another person joked the kitchen staff must have gone home. We had a main course 2 hours after arriving. The food when did arrive was awful. The steak medium rare was cooked to well done and for more than £30 was poor quality and poor taste. Not a single person at the table enjoyed their meal. And there was no real service . So will be talked about for a long time as the infamous place never to revisit again.

Dear Guest

Following your review i have investigated and have found no report from any guest or large table to match your feedback. all of our steaks are price well under £30, and we would never leave any guest waiting 2 hours for any dish as our system recorded both the order time and ready time when the kitchen call the dish to be taken to a guest. We have checked back and all delivery times for food have been made within 30 minutes. If this was the case then the a guest would have told us and before that happened our team would have identified the issue.

please feel free to contact me so i can clear this up, as at the moment your feedback has been unfairly placed on my Business.

Kind Regards

Steven

I came for afternoon tea with two friends, we were made very welcome and we were looked after by Leanne. She made sure we had plenty of drinks and made sure we had enough food. Her service was excellent. We didn’t feel rushed and would love to visit again soon!
