Got a really good deal direct with the Malmaison booking line for D&BB for two people for £139 - excellent value at the weekend.
Room was lovely as ever - our problem this time (there is ALWAYS a minor problem at this hotel when we stay!) was the incredibly noisy staff at 6.30am outside our room, presumably getting supplies out of a cupboard - please be quieter next time, you woke us up!!
Breakfast was superb, evening meal excellent. Overall a lovely 24 hours in Birmingham

Malmaison clearly spends a good deal on branding, and the sense that you were staying the night inside an advert got irksome after a while (examples: slogans like 'Live Life, Love Life, Love Mal' liberally applied to brochures, flyers, breakfast menus etc; or the chummy way of reminding you to pay your minibar bill - 'well it would be rude not to..!') More serious, however, was the fact that there was no way of opening a window in the room. The air conditioning was set at a minimum of 18C - which we were told was a health and safety regulation - so we had the choice of a sleepless night in an overheated room or a sleepless night in an airless room. We had intended this stay to be a bit of luxury and a treat after Christmas, but left the hotel more exhausted than when we arrived.

Stayed for 2 nights., Car park next to Hotel at £15 per night , 4th floor room not easy to find. Room had a small window looking onto nothing that didn't open, heating was full on, air con would not work only a noisy fan.
room 435 with wine stains over the floor next to bed. No spoon for the tea in the morning, no pen & no details about when breakfast would be. Bed very, very firm. as usual lighting in bathrom poor. We went next door to eat in the Mailbox. First class location shame about the hotel standards Has great room for improvement

Stayed at the Malmaison for my husband's Christmas work do, no idea what the charge was for the room as we didn't have to pay! The hotel location is fantastic 5 minutes walk from the Bullring and our room overlooked Harvey Nicholls. The room was lovely, very contemporary and incredibly clean. Upon arrival we had had a bottle of champagne put in our room by my husband's employers I rang to order an ice bucket which I was told would be sent up shortly - it NEVER arrived. We went down to dinner in the hotel and the hotel had messed up the booking our party, they were unable to re-arrange table to allow our party of 14 to sit together and we ended up with a table of 10 and one of 4, I would have thought, bearing in mind that 6 rooms had been booked at the hotel, that they could have sorted out for us to sit togheter. The meal was okay and no more - again don't know what the cost was but I'd imagine it wasn't cheap. We had a lovely evening in good company but I think we may have felt the need to complain had we had made the booking ourselves. Breakfast in the morning was nice. Would we stay there again? Definitely if we could get a good deal, but only for the room not the meal in the restaurant.

Stayed here on business last week and booked via their website for the internet rate of £140. The hotel itself is modern and well styled. The rooms are very comfortable and exactly what you would expect from Malmaison. Good bathroom, stereo and TV, free broadband (very important these days and often overlooked).

Grabbed a late drink in the hotel bar which is, if I'm honest, a bit poncy. Still, its open late for guests. Also good is the late night munchies room service, which includes beans on toast and even a decent thai curry.

Breakfast is good, but hugely overpriced. For the cooked breakfast its the same price for a fry up as it is for a couple of bacon butties or a boiled egg and toast - £12.95! Bit of a liberty if you ask me. Damn good bacon though.

All in all though, good location, very comfortable, friendly staff.
