“Gorgeous holiday cottage!”
Reviewed 29 December 2016 for a stay in December 2016

Had the pleasure of staying at Petty Knowes Cottage for one night, I didn't want to leave! The attention to detail with the facilities is first class, Joanne and Gordon have thought of everything you would ever need for your stay! My boyfriend loved the cottage too, it was extremely comfortable and so quiet so we had no trouble getting to sleep. The dark skies allow a wonderful view of the stars (something that we don't get to see too often living in a built up area). Being up at the top of a hill you get spectacular views surrounding the cottage.

Ideally located close to Kielder forest, roman historical sites and other activities.

Would highly recommend anyone thinking of booking to do so, you won't be disappointed!

“Perfect getaway from it all accommodation”
Reviewed 4 November 2016 for a stay in October 2016

My wife and me visited here with Brodie our GSP. This was our second visit this year and we have had a fantastic stay. Joanne and Gordon greeted us upon our arrival, a pleasure to meet them both again. The cottage is superb, truly a home from home and then some. We loved the picnic hamper, scrumptious and a lovely bottle of wine. They have put so much thought into the whole experience it is truly appreciated, we can't sing their praises highly enough other than to say, try it for yourselves. We are already checking our diary for next year.

“Fantastic cottage and excellent hosts”
Reviewed 10 September 2016 for a stay in September 2016

What a find Petty Knowes cottage is, the owners have gone to great lengths to make it a cosy holiday home for 2 people. There were 4 people in our party (2 sleeping in the lounge) and there was still plenty of room.

The welcome:

We were given a tour of the property by Joanne, everything explained clearly. We also received a lovely little welcome hamper, the scones were lovely. We arrived in the rain on a damp and slightly cold day, Joanne could see we were a little cold and kindly lit a small fire in the open fireplace.

The cottage:

Lovely! Entry is through the lounge, a good size with a nice big sofa, a big snuggle chair and an armchair. Lovely thick carpet under foot and plenty of lovely nic nacs and candles dotted around. A good size bathroom with walk in shower. The kitchen is very well equipped with plenty of crockery for 4 people and the coffee machine was a very popular. The bedroom is a good size with a lovely big sleigh bed (which was very comfortable), plenty of drawers and wardrobe space for clothes, there is also a wood burning stove and all fuel is supplied for both fires.

The snug:

A lovely little hideaway within the cottage (we won't tell you where), with a view of the garden and a lovely little biofuel fire to keep you warm on a chilly evening.

The location:

Situated high up on a hill, lovely views across open countryside. Lots of things to see and do within an hour of the cottage, lots of roman history right on the doorstep.

The summary:

Perfect! So many extras included, just bring yourselves, some clothes and food. There is free use of the hot tub, towels and robes are supplied. Internet is available via wifi and at the time of writing this review the owners are awaiting a fibre optic upgrade. Free firewood, coal, loo rolls, hand soap, a plentiful supply of tea towels, candles - lots of candles, biofuel for the stove in the snug.

So, a fantastic welcome, nothing is too much trouble for Gordon and Joanne. The cottage is great, cosy and warm. We will be returning soon and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a romantic getaway, or as a base for the xploring Northumberland. Another bonus is that the cottage is in the dark sky park, so many stars visible on a clear night.

“Beautiful spot”
Reviewed 30 August 2016 for a stay in August 2016

When looking for a bank holiday getaway with our dog, I stumbled across Petty Knowes Cottage and I am so glad I did!
Joanne and Gordon have created a beautiful holiday home - comfortable and plush with everything and more that you would ever want.
From the secret snug to the breathtaking views (and of course the hot tub), Petty Knowes is a great place to relax as well as enjoy what the surrounding area has to offer (and that's a lot!).
We will definitely return x

“Family birthday weekend”
Reviewed 18 July 2016 for a stay in July 2016

We attended with our two children aged 5 and 8. Gordon and Joanne were more than happy to provide two pull up beds. The kids loved the whole cottage, including the cats they wanted to adopt! A beautiful location and a beautiful cottage. Having a hot tub looking over the countryside was brilliant. We loved it and would highly recommend it to anyone.
