Only in Newcastle for a funeral, so not looking for anything special, but this place is special. Not least the wonderfully personal decorative touches. Don't be put off by the otherwise suburban looking street, it's within walking distance of the town centre.

We stayed here for two nights and were very happy with the hotel. The owner gave us a free upgrade from a shared bathroom room to a private room - which was a great welcome gift! She also gave us a map, showing us the main sites and the public transportation options. She also gave us a great tip for dinner (Komal Resturant). The centre of the city was easily reached by bus in around 10 minutes and the bus stop itself is a short 5 minute walk from the hotel, on a street that is well lit. Breakfast was served in the beautiful dinning room and was absolutely delicious and very filling.

The welcome was lovely, hotel very comfy, and breakfast excellent (did not need to eat for the rest of the day!).
A bit further from town centre than we thought, but we didn't mind the walk, there are plenty of buses or taxis otherwise.
We were in a party of 19 and we were all looked after so well considering we invaded their hotel for 2 nights, even the children were looked after and not moaned at to stay quiet. I would definately recommend this hotel

Room Tip: All rooms are individual so just speak to Katrina she will be very helpful.

We booked this charming hotel because of it"s close location to the RVI hospital. We travelled up and were given an excellent welcome, given the keys to room 6 overlooking the front garden. Lovely room with period furniture. Katerina gave us directions to a local pub, "the Denton" about a mile away. I needed a taxi for 10.00am the following day which Katerina also sorted for me.
Had an enjoyable pint in the cosy bar and went to bed. What a comfy bed !! Woke up to the smell of a "Full English" being cooked. Had a shower and went down for breakfast.
Excellent selection of cereals, fruit etc, and the cooked breakfast was superb served with a huge cafetiere of coffee. Taxi arrived on time and that was it.
The dining room and all reception rooms were decorated in a true period style and the christmas tree looked spectacular in the corner. Reminded one of how old Christmases must have been. Would recommend. Katerina could not do enough to make you welcome.

Room Tip: Choose room six.

I almost dont want to write this review because i want this place to stay secret! I had to travel to Newcastle alone and was on a budget, i would never have found this hotel otherwise as usually stay in some bland, charmless city centre hotel. I booked a standard single room for £29 but rang the owner and said i was a bit worried about sharing a bathroom but she said she would give me a room right next door and hopefully i would get sole use of it. However i didnt need to worry as when i arrived i was given an upgrade to a twin en-suite.
The directions to the hotel were excellent and i had no problems getting there from the city centre, it was a five minute bus journey, followed by five minute walk down a quiet residential street. I was given a warm welcome on arrival and was shown the breakfast area and my room.
My room was lovely, warm without being too hot, immaculately clean and very comfortable, it feels very homely. The other thing i noticed was how quiet other guests were, no doors slamming or loud tvs at all hours.
My only criticism would be my shower, which was a bit trickly, but the water was warm and the bathroom very clean so i really didnt worry about it.
Breakfast was superb, lovely choice of cereals, yoghurt, fruit and tea varieties. The service was professional, discreet and quick. It was a perfectly cooked breakfast, which is very hard to find, fried eggs (runny yum), sausage, bacon, tomato, mushrooms and black pudding (joy) followed by toast. I ate at 8.30am and didnt need anything else until the evening.

So in summary, a lovely welcoming home from home, quiet, with great rooms, comfy beds, great service and fantastic breakfast. What more can i say, other than i know where i'll be staying next time im in Newcastle.
