Owner description: Award winning live music & entertainment venue in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk. From classical to jazz, folk to pop/rock, comedy, family entertainment & more! The Apex also hosts a stunning art gallery with frequently changing exhibitions, plus a cafe!

We have attended this venue a few times and all has been good. This is the reason that on a recent shopping expedition to Bury St Edmonds we decided to use the cafe in the foyer and I wished we hadn't. We ordered a coffee, orange juice, a cheese sandwich and a chicken wrap. The drinks were fine but the chicken wrap was cold and damp and my wife couldn't eat it all. I had the cheese sandwich which consisted of two dry white slices of bread and some yellow rubbery tasteless something or other which I guess was supposed to be the cheese which was half the size of the bread. So once bitten twice shy, I won't be coming back any time soon.

We’re very sorry to hear that you didn’t enjoy your recent visit to The Apex Café. We’d always recommend any problems to be reported to the Duty Manager at the time as they would have been able to offer you an alternative option or offer you a refund for the items you were not happy with.

We appreciate your feedback and although the cafe have to refrigerate sandwiches due to Health and Safety requirements, they are changing their offer next month and introducing some new options for the summer.

We do hope you will visit us again soon.

I find the sound really bad in The Apex too. We saw Lulu and Ruby Turner, both times the sound was a big disappointment. People behind us were complaining too.
The venue and position of it is great, but it is something that that needs looking at. I noticed Lulu wasn't happy with the sound and it was so cold in there she put her coat on for the 2nd half!

Ok, I've been to concert halls before - but this one takes the whole experience to a new high. Ok, its modern and appears new - the foyer is huge, open and airy with a coffee bar. Toilets (downstairs) are fresh looking and easy to find and well appointed. The auditorium is open and well laid out - BUT - the seats (basically upholstered benches with arms) are hard, so it may be well to take a cushion!

We are frequent visitors to the Apex, it is an excellent venue hosting some great acts. There is great and then there is oustanding as in the amazing Miss Ruby Turner. What a concert and what a gift of a voice this delightful Lady has and yet She is truly humble without any hint of Diva! The show was sold out and understandably so, Ruby and her band gave us an evening to remember and rocked the Apex almost lifting the rafters. A standing ovation from the audience was truly deserved. We highly recommend the Apex and do see Ruby Turner for yourselves, you will not be disappointed.

This is an excellent venue for any show or performance you book to see. I have seen Mowtown and The Kinks and am booked to see Pam Ayers in October
It is spacious and light and always clean. Whichever seats you choose you will always be able to see. The bar is upstairs but there is a lift if you should need one. My only criticism is you are not allowed to take drinks into the seating area in glass so there is a huge use of single use plastic!
The excellent cafe is open for cakes and hot drinks and you are awesome to buy sweet snacks should you wish to enjoy them. I would never hesitate to recommend this as a venue to enjoy

Hello,

Thank you very much for your review and kind comments about The Apex. We are so pleased to hear that you are a fan of The Apex and enjoy the performances you come to see here.

Unfortunately we’re unable to allow glass into the auditorium for health and safety reasons, however, we are also concerned about use of single plastic and are looking at a number of options that include better quality plastic glasses that can be reused and also greater recycling.

We look forward to seeing you again for Pam Ayres, if not before!

All the best,
The Apex
