Stayed at this Holiday inn Express, Stanley way trentham lakes 2nd October to 4th October. 3rd floor.
Also met friends here on the Friday night and they stayed one night as were all travelling Alton Towers together next day. Very convenient stay for Alton towers, seemed busy. Welcoming on reception, quick check in and pleasant. Informative about room/amenities and breakfast, so listen up lol, as there’s no info sheets/books in rooms (covid measures I expect).
Rooms were basic but clean , after all this is a budget hotel. Nice big shower and adequate lighting in room. Had get a toothbrush from reception (they offer complimentary items like this if forget, nice touch)
Only gripes were the heating/air con in these rooms take a lot of fidderling with and are not the best at all. Struggled keep heating on.
Also tip to management for the bar, use branded glassware or atleast decent lager glasses with widgets, flat lagers served and at £4.50 a pint you want perfectly served as a minimum. (I often think hotels like this lack in the bar training side in regards to perfect serve etc)All in all though staff all friendly & was a good experience.

Stayed here for 2 nights as visiting Alton Towers. Rooms were a good size and were clean. Beds were comfortable with quality bedding. Breakfast was really good considering grab and go due to covid. Staff have a good system in the morning. Reception staff and breakfast staff were friendly and helpful. I would recommend this hotel.

We didn't even stay. Walked in, found out a standard room ment allocate on arrival. Me and my husband were allocated 2 single beds. Apparently the hotel was full. Went to the room which was outdated and need of modernising. It felt and looked cold. I decided to look up the hotel in regards to it apparently being sold out. The official website showed double rooms and an executive room as being available, and also on booking. com it showed plenty of rooms available. I rang up and asked if we could pay to get swapped seems as it says they have room. This is where I was informed it was standard practice to oversell the hotel due to no shows!! There were still no double rooms available only this twin room. Then I asked about the supposed spare executive room that was available only to be informed that that room didn't even exist.

I decided at this point to I didn't want to stay in the hotel any more as personally found that appauling standard or not.

We went to reception to state we would be leaving no one even bothered to ask why or what the problem was.

Ended up at premier Inn for cheaper. Nicer hotel and we got a double bed.

So heads up, don't expect to get the room you book and don't even expect to get a room at all of they are over selling.
