Description: We're one of Wells' oldest and most central pubs, occupying an early-14th century building right in the middle of the High St. Whether you're looking for a light lunch, a hearty dinner, a quiet drink with friends, some of the best cask ales in the city or a lively weekend night out, we have it all!Give us a try on your visit to Wells, you won't be disappointed! Please note: TripAdvisor hasn't yet got a 'pub' category, so we're listed as a 'restaurant'. Whilst we serve fantastic, locally sourced and freshly prepared food, we are still a real, local pub at heart and our menu is therefore real pub grub done well, along with al of the other great things you'd expect from a fantastic local...

I was recommended an excellent Chicken plus Scampi meal by a regular to this Pub. I really did enjoy all three sauces that came with my meal. The chunky chips were all eaten hot, perfect.

A decent meal, but nothing to write home about. My Casear's salad was a little heavy, especially the thick dressing. I'd have preferred a more refined dish. The staff seemed overwhelmed. We were about the leave after waiting for an eternity for our food. To the manager's credit, he saw us leaving, ran to the kitchen, and, voila, our food appeared.

Wells Cathedral is breathtakingly beautiful and this nearby pub is breathtakingly awful ! Rude staff and poor quality over-priced food. Dreary atmosphere. The sort of tourist rip-off dump which makes one embarrassed to see foreign visitors going in.

Stopped in for a Pint after visiting the cathedral and market. Nice pub, wait for food on the day was about 45 minutes, but it was a saturday lunchtime so probably about average waiting time - didn't eat but the food coming out to the tables looked lovely. Might re-visit this next time in Wells
