My boyfriend and I stayed here for a two night Travelzoo deal arriving on 17 Oct. On arrival we were greated warmly by Nick on reception who walked us up to our room, (no lifts but not a problem for us). Having read the reviews we decided to upgrade to a 4 poster room, (34), and we were glad we did, the room was enormous and as it was on the top floor we had lovely views of the gardens and of Bath in the distance. As other reviewers have said, the sink was in the room and the toilet and shower in an ajoining wet room which we didn't find a problem and infact we felt that it added to the charm of the building. The room was well kitted out with bathrobes, slippers, a kettle with lots of tea, coffee and chocolate, chocolates on the pillows and a bottle of water, (replenished each day). After settling in we went down for a very nice champagne afternoon tea served by John who also doubled up on reception after hours. On both mornings we were served a lovely freshly cooked breakfast and you could have cereal, fresh fruit etc if you wished which was laid out for you to help yourself and a very nice touch was a glass of champagne, (proper champagne and not cava as other reviewers have stated). The hotel is a short bus ride, (no 3 ), from a bus stop a short distance from the hotel and cost £4.50 for a day travel ticket. On both days, we were treated to a 3 course al la carte meal at the sister hotel, The Royal, which was excellent and unlike a lot of similar deals you could choose anything from the menu. On our first day, we decided to take advantage of the Mayor of Bath's free walking tour which I would highly recommend anyone new to Bath to do. The guides really know their stuff and clearly love their home town, it's really interesting and a great way of finding your way around Bath. To sum up, this deal was better than we could have imagined, the staff were all wonderful, (Nick, John and the serving staff at The Royal), and the accommodation was fab. On check-out we bumped into the larger than life Patrick who is the owner of the hotel and he, like everyone at the Bailbrook was very friendly and full of tips of things to do in Bath. All in all, if you get a chance to stay here I would recommend you jump at it. We will be back! Thank you all at Bailbridge for a lovely stay! Pam & Steve Xx
