We booked the Lion Hotel because of its location as we wanted to explore Shrewsbury and you couldn't be more central. The town is wonderful with an abbey, castle and a myriad of tiny cobbled alley ways threading their way through the town revealing unique shops and courtyards with excellent tea rooms.
On arrival we were greeted by very helpful staff who explained everything to us, our room was ready so we unpacked and then came down to afternoon tea where we admired this 14th century building and it is magnificent. We dined in the hotel in the evening, the menu was not extensive but it was varied and catered for all tastes but special requirements such as vegan would I imagine would have to notified in advance as in most hotels.
The staff the following morning on reception were most helpful, Tom answered all our questions with a smile, a lovely start to our day. The breakfast was a normal arrangement of a cold table with a cooked breakfast and whilst not a large portion which suited us as we had already had cereal, the food was beautifully cooked and came out hot and fresh. My only tdrawback to a perfect stay was that although the hotel has parking the bay's are tight and when we went out in the morning our car had been damaged by another car scraping paint from the front near side.More
