Description: OUR CAFÉ The name Sparrow, while no longer the family surname, remains an important link to the past generations who worked hard to create the Albrighton Estate. The café is therefore named in their memory. Meals, snacks and cakes are freshly prepared to order in our kitchen using ingredients from the shop and other local sources. Morning, lunch and afternoon menus give a variety of choice. There is also a children’s menu, again made in our kitchen using local ingredients. Sparrow’s Cafe introduces a new menu at different times of the year to utilise seasonal produce but the firm favourites such as Battlefield Beef and Shropshire Ale Pie, are always available! These changes in menu are also reflected in the range of ready meals prepared for sale in the shop. Most of our seating area is easily accessible by wheelchair but we suggest you call us to book a table should you require one on the ground floor. Otherwise there is no need to book unless your party is of more than six people.

I have been a few times to this cafe and this week have been fortunate to go twice in a week. I shop in the farm shop first and then we treat ourselves in the cafe. There is a wide range of drinks and lots of choice on the menu. Yesterday I had a gluten free granola bar and my husband had a scone with cream. Both delicious and fresh. Today with friends I had a coronation chicken jacket potato(again gf). Service was good. The staff are always very busy, but helpful and friendly. If able to sit outside seating is less of a problem, but when busy may have to wait for a table.

The breakfasts are large, varied and well cooked. They use local sources for the ingredients, which is good and ethical. Only downside as a result is that it gets quite busy, so the food is slower at peak times. Get there early and you’ll be fine.

Recommended for lunch. It was very busy. Staff not at all helpful. Felt rushed for ordering and vacating the table after eating. Food was dry and overcooked. No follow up with staff needed to walk downstairs for extra's. Won't rush to go back.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review of your visit to us.

I apologise that you did not enjoy your experience and hope that it has not put you off visiting us again.

Our cafe/Restaurant is extremely popular and there is often a waiting list for people to be seated during very busy periods, unfortunately the popularity of our destination is not something we can change (we are very proud of our successful cafe) and we only have a set number of seats (outdoor seating is always available). I am terribly sorry that you felt rushed, i can assure you that no member of staff would ever pressure a customer into rushing their experience with us and i am sorry that you felt this way. Do you know who it was that served you so we can look into this for you?

I am especially sorry to hear that the food was not up to your standards, as a multi award winning destination, our food has created a reputation for being some of the very finest Shropshire has to offer, with many accolades to attest to that. We apologise that this did not match your expectations.

Our cafe is a relaxed and friendly environment and we strive hard to maintain that, customers are free to help themselves to whatever additional extras (sauces, sugar, cutlery) that they may need. Again if you can let me know who served you i can check as to what happened on the day you visited and see why the service was lacking and if your server had offered extras?

Thank you ever so much for leaving a review and for bringing these points to our attention. If you do visit us again in the future, and experience any issues at all i would kindly ask that any issues be reported on the day to a member of management. Once you have left us there is very little we can do to rectify any mistakes. Customers who feel compelled to leave a review must also feel compelled to address the issue as and when it occurs.

Thank you again and we hope to see you back with us very soon.

Arriving a few minutes after opening we ordered breakfasts. The food was served quite quickly. The food however looked dry and over cooked . The sausage was rather dark . The bacon hard and rather tough to chew. Fried egg and beans however were fine. Mushrooms were dried out and rather shrivled. The black pudding was strangely hard on one side. The fried potatoes were almost black. The toast was hard and dry and not at all nice. Two members of staff asked how the breakfast was and I answered honestly to both about how bad it was, neither made any attempts to remedy the situation. I won't ever return here as their high price is only justified for freshly cooked premium produce . I cannot recommend this place in any way.

Excellent food and really friendly helpful staff who went out of their way to help seat and look after a family with a person with learning disability. Thank you for making our day out so enjoyable. Kind and understanding staff make all the difference to my sister's experience on a day out.
