We really enjoyed our stay in the this lovely house. Everything you can think of has been considered and it's equipped with good quality items. This is not always the case with rental properties! We were very pleased to receive a ‘welcome basket’ full of all the essentials – wine, biscuits, chocolate and cereal etc. The comprehensive instructions were straightforward. Although the parking restriction (8-6pm, 7 days a week) is definitely an issue, we nearly always were able to park right outside the door and, compared to some councils, reasonably charged. Although the house was fairly central we couldn’t get over how quiet it was even though a couple of minutes walk up the steep street was the castle. Ludlow is a great base to see the gorgeous Shropshire countryside with it historic houses, ruins, castles and wonderful walks.
The cottage is very well located near the middle of Ludlow on a quiet street. The accommodation is arranged over three floors with the sitting room on the first floor and bedroom and bathroom on the upper floor. The cottage is beautifully furnished with many attractive pictures, ornaments, books etc. This gives the feel of a very comfortable home rather than a holiday let. This characterful cottage has many exposed beams and other original features of this 18C building. Ideal for a couple looking for a base in historic Ludlow with its restaurants, markets and many food shops and with many country walks from the town. The stairs are quite steep and narrow so would not be suitable for someone with mobility problems although there are rails and for most people this would not be a problem.
Where else can you see the market and the town centre shops at one end of the street, and the river and a meadow with sheep grazing, at the other end? Where else can you look out of the window and see 600 years' worth of architecture? That's Mill Street for you, and No. 24 is very conveniently halfway to either. It's a pleasing character of a house, with a modern, well-equipped kitchen, a cosy living room above with a wide selection of books and DVDs and above that, a double bedroom with en suite shower and one of the most comfortable beds I've ever slept in. Whether you are there for Ludlow's many attractions of using the place as a touring base for the mid-Wales Marches, I doubt you could do better.
Mill Street is just off the market Square so very Central and the street leads down to the river so is beautifully situated. Once you enter the cottage you are treated to luxury across three floors. This really feels like a home not a rental, the facilities are great and so very comfortable. Raymond left a lovely welcome basket and comprehensive arrival instructions. i can't wait to stay again in this wonderful cottage.
With little knowledge of Ludlow, selecting 24 Mill Street was largely down to luck, but it couldn't have turned out better. Location, combined with the comfort and quality of the fixtures and fittings left nothing at all to be desired. As was pointed out by the owner, the stairs could be tricky for some, but along with other architectural quirks and the lovely decor they simply added to our experience. Even the parking, which we were a little concerned about, proved to be no problem at all. Marvellous!
