Close to the Peak District National Park but it was still so convenient for business in Sheffield. The room I had at the back was lovely and spacious with a pleasant view over open countryside and the city as well as being quiet. The desk was well lit with good internet access (So often this is not the case even when hotels promise it) The food was good value 'Pub grub'. The bathroom had a bath rather than just a shower and was also big and well appointed.

Room Tip: Having so far only stayed here once I cannot say which is the best room but the rooms at the back ar...

Stayed for a Saturday night after attending a party on Ecclesall Rd. Room was very spacious with a well equipped en suite bathroom and good shower. room was slightly cold but just turned up the thermostatic valve, King size bed was comfortable and there was little or no noise even though the owners daughter was having a party downstairs!
Manager was very friendly and efficient and the owner himself even had a good chat with me.
Breakfast was good and well cooked and had a nice cuppa beside the open fire and read the Sunday papers. The place was busy even on a Sunday morning and had a good atmosphere.
To sum up this is a nice place to stay and is well located in the countryside but still gives good access to Sheffield centre. It is good value and to me is better than staying in the large chain hotels.

Room Tip: I think they were all nice...

Found this pub when searching for a country pub near Sheffield. It looks quite big from the outside with ample free parking and big patio area, but inside it is very cosy with two open fires. We spent the day shopping round Sheffield then arrived at the pub about 4pm. Check in was fine and we went up to our room. The room was a large room with a nice bathroom with a great view across the open countryside, we unpacked and went down to the bar for a nice pint of Guinness, after a few beers we ordered some food which myself and my wife thought was very nice with good portions. The following morning the breakfast was just right with everything you needed. We went mid January and we think in summer this pub would be great for walks and having a few beers outside.

Booked this hotel about a month in advance and gave a card number to confirm. The hotel then phoned us 4 days before our arrival date and told us that there was a double booking and that they would book us into another hotel. The tone was indifferent and when we asked the price of the other hotel, the employee said she didn't know. We asked for written confirmation of the new booking by email, to affirm price etc. No email arrived after 2 days and as it was close to departure we phoned the new hotel to check if we had a reservation...they had never heard of us. We phoned The Norfolk Arms back to try and find out what happened and the response was absolutely appalling. Not once did the employee apologise or make an effort to provide an explanation as to what happened.

We can accept that sometimes these things happen, but a good establishment will do everything in their power to sort things out and at the very least apologise. It's pretty shocking that a business can behave this way. In the end, we booked The Royal Hotel in Dungworth which was perfect with excellent hospitality. Judging by another recent review, it's probably best we didn't stay at The Norfolk Arms.

Fantastic views looking over the country side. Shame it was let down by poor service from certain members of staff. Room was an average. Cleanliness of the bathroom was terrible. Not a good start when you have to get the it cleaned before you unpack.
Bar area wasn't much better glasses where dirty. The food was shocking I was very disappointed with my stay.
