Just checked in to Amherst; totally taken aback at how lovely it is. Friendly manager, lovely room with all essentials; including mini fridge, microwave, and a fan in the room also nice shower gels and shampoos in the shower.
Beats the pants off Travelodge or IBIS, and not £200/night! Definitely worth the 5min walk out of the town centre.

Fantastic welcoming guest house. Host lovely with good conversation. Room has microwave and other mod cons. Would recommend as very near the centre. Just a ten min walk to train station. Breakfast is good quality and at a time to suit you.

This is my first visit Amherst Guest House. Nicolai is a great host, his guest house is comfortable and the bed welcoming. He does all he can to help his guests and is always approachable.
Reading centre with all its facities is just a few minutes walk away.

From the initial greeting to the whole experience of a four night stay, I was delighted with the experience. Location, cleanliness, comfort and attention to detail was just what I hoped for and I was completely satisfied. Nicolai is a great host and I look forward to a return visit.

Booked a room here while property hunting in Reading. About 10 minutes walk from the town centre but quiet (at least in the rear rooms). Room was spacious and equipped with a microwave and cutlery for a basic meal but breakfast was provided downstairs by the friendly landlord.

Room tip: Room 5 has good garden view
