We were passing through on route to Blenheim Palace and decided to meet friends at this pub for a bite to eat. The menu provided good options for light bites and main meals (and anything in-between) but was not so large that you felt everything must be out of the freezer! I ordered the Brixham fish & chips which was "Ling" fish and very fresh plus was a generous portion with choice of 3 different fries inc sweet potato, my wife ordered calamari with garlic mayo plus the tiger prawns with chorizo from the light bites menu both of which were devoured with ease. My 13 year old son ordered the classic burger which was enormous and very tasty but only just off blue (we like it pink but this was boarder line), and my 11 year old daughter ordered the kids cheese burger which was a good size and she finished it all so it must have been good. Service was a tad slower than we would have liked, taking around 40-45 minutes from order to food on the table, however better to wait for something good and fresh then be given sub-standard freezer food. Price wise it was about normal for this area which is above average. Recommended would be 5 stars if not for slightly slow service and blue-ish burger.

Only place in Woodstock we could find that served food through the afternoon. Good selection of traditional eats and newer type cuisine.

Crazy Santa burger was a miss. Think the chef tried to hard to do something special. The added turkey and pigs in a blanket did nothing but confuse and complicate the eating process. The classic burger there is usually good. This burger didn't even come close in flavor.
Crispy calendar was mushy and not crip at all. Couldn't eat it. Two chicken schnitzel dinners the chicken was nearly black on the outside it was so overcooked.
Pleasant atmosphere and reasonable service.

The star inn is always in high demand because of where it is and the sheer numbers of tourists visiting Blenheim Castle. We visited when the light show was on and had to book a couple of weeks in advance. The staff were attentive, patient and professional. The food was excellent and we had no complaints at all.

9 adults and 3 children met up for an evening meal. The meal including the menu choices were made over 4 weeks in advance, yet still the kitchen didn't seem to cope with trying to feed us all at same time. I had Pie, chips and mushy peas, I kid you not there was less than a tablespoonful of peas, and my 31/2 year granddaughter had the children's fish finger and chips and beans. She had a larger portion of chips than I did. The food we did receive wasn't as hot as it should have been, at around £35, including drinks (2), I found this to be pretty poor value for money. One more thing....Why on earth do they make children wait until the adults have been served, the adults waut till children have finished??? Rant over thanks
