We invited some close friends from Northamptonshire to join us at the Blue Boar for lunch and enjoyed a very pleasant meal together. We were looked after very well by the staff and the appetising looking food was nicely cooked and arrived promptly. The Boar is a very characterful pub with a great choice of eating areas. Maybe as some others have said a little more veg would be welcome but on the whole we were quite impressed. Many thanks to Shannon, Kirsty, Claire and Josh for looking after us.

Hi There,

Thank you so much for your 4 star review, Its great to hear you enjoyed your visit and the pork belly.
It is a great shame to hear you didn't feel you had enough veg on the dish during this visit as you are aware the dish comes with braised baby leeks and purple sprouting broccoli, but where people would like a little extra veg we do have some delicious sides to accompany our dishes, a personal favourite is the honey roasted beetroot and orange.

We look forward to you revisiting and I will take this opportunity to wish you a very happy Easter.

Best wishes

Christian and the team

We went for lunch as we needed some vegan friendly options and we found and enjoyed them. Plus our carnivores were very well catered for too. The decor is lovely and warm and welcoming, despite the initial entrance way seeming to be quite dark and gloomy, once you're in the seating areas it is lovely. Nice clean toilets - although there are steps inside the pub/restaurant.
We all really enjoyed our food, especially so as they altered dishes to our preferences and the staff that served us went above and beyond to make our experience really enjoyable. The beers were excellent and obviously well kept and the wine list was a real treat to read and our choices were very good.
Our server provided a colouring book and crayons for our little one and a special dish of strawberries and grapes to nibble while we waited for a meals. Everything was really good and so we stayed for a three hour lunch break because it was so comfortable and welcoming.
I have absolutely no hesitation to recommend the pub/restaurant to anyone and will definitely go back next time I'm in Chipping Norton.
