“Wedding weekend”
Reviewed 21 December 2016 for a stay in December 2016

We had a family wedding and Chippy cottage was the perfect base for us all. The cottage was a great size and the Christmas decorations were a very welcome touch. We had a little trouble finding the place (very foggy weather) but our contact Jamie was easily contactable and helpful. Would happyily stay there again - thanks!

“Small, relaxing and atmospheric, but fairly tricky parking”
Reviewed 6 December 2016 for a stay in December 2016

A wonderful chocolate box cottage, predominantly white inside with tasteful relaxing decor. A magical Xmas tree and wood burning stove. Clean crisp linen, clean as a new pin everywhere. The tea coffee milk and chocolate cake were a lovely welcome upon arrival. Superb facilities, a small comment; maybe a few more serving bowls and some salad servers would be helpful as we ate in every evening.
The internal semi spiral paintedstairs are not for the faint hearted. Some carpet on them may make using them a tad easier. Maybe in suitable if you have toddlers.
The window seats are lovely but more than once we tried to open the windows for fresh air but were unable. The large TV is of reasonably high quality for a holiday let , as we were tired each evening and thoroughly enjoyed watching it together, we did move one of the sofas to do that.
We would stay here again as a preference, despite having to juggle our 3 cars, as the on street parking is quickly full and was a bit of a hot topic.
It is a great location , a matter of yards from the village itself, we were lucky enough to have arrived when the village Christmas market was on which was really atmospheric.
Highly recommend.

"""Character Cottages, as a marketing agency, does not look after or maintain any cottages. The following is written by the owners of Chippy Cottage: "It's lovely to hear you had an enjoyable stay, and certainly timed it very well with the Christmas market!
Also, thanks for taking the time to share your nice comments and praise of our cottage.

Due to previous guest feedback, we have decided to keep the ground floor front facing windows locked (for young children on the window seats), but the welcome pack explains where you can find the key to open them.

We have tried to balance the amount of kitchen utensils with space, to not feel cluttered. We hope we have found that balance, but will keep in mind your suggestions should other guests provide similar feedback.

For Car Parking, we agree that it remains a hot topic throughout the Cotsowlds. Luckily "Chippy" benefits more than most, with lots of large and free local parking sites, as well as off street parking. You may of also noticed the addition of a new car park at the bottom of the street. (This new one incurs a very minor fee for 24 hours as a last resort.)

The stairs are typical of an old and traditional Cotswold Cottage, and hopefully the booking page made this clear. We try to highlight that it has many character features, including narrow and steep stairs, low beams and multiple floors dating from the early 1600's. We constantly review how we can improve the cottage, and understand this could be difficult for guests with limited mobility.

Once again, were pleased you had a relaxing time in our cottage, and hope to welcome you back soon.

Sam & Jamie.

“Contemporary cottage”

As a family of 5 , we spent a lovely week in Chippy Cottage in July 2016. As other have commented, the cottage is very tastefully decorated. It is also extremely convenient to Sainsburys and a large Co-op - this makes life easier, especially when self-catering.

Chipping Norton itself is a charming town and an excellent base from which to visit: Oxford, Sratford and all the lovely Cotswold villages. However...... parking was a major headache for us. This may have been because it was peak season, but there were lots of evenings that we struggled to find anywhere close to leave the car. It also should be highlighted that there are no logs provided for the summer months. We arrived on a cold wet Friday and it would have been lovely to have used the woodburner. The weather then turned extremely warm and the attic bedroom was stifling to sleep in - a fan would have been appreciated. Although fan heaters are supplied in every room, which was a nice touch. The kitchen also had just one small frying pan, this made cooking breakfast difficult in the mornings. However nearly everything else has been thought of. As others have said, we also struggled with having only one bathroom between five of us!

""Character Cottages, as a marketing agency, does not look after or maintain any cottages. The following is written by the owners of Chippy Cottage: "Firstly, thank you for your comments and staying at Chippy Cottage. We’re sorry to hear parking was a pain for you. Unfortunately most cottages in the Cotswolds do not have parking, and as a result it can be a little tricky from time to time, which can be sometimes heightened during peak seasons. The welcome pack and booking confirmation covers the many free parking locations that Chippy offers, and trust these weren’t too much of an inconvenience. But once again, were sorry to hear this was a low light for you.

You certainly had a mixture of weather during the week you visited, from cold and rainy to the hottest day of the summer! We state in the cottage welcome pack that wood for burning is only provided in the winter months, October to March. However, thank you for bringing this to our attention, as we will ensure this is also clearly marked on the booking webpage for future guests. The welcome pack mentions that logs can be cheaply purchased locally, so we hope you noticed this and made use of the wood burning stove. The electric heaters provided in all the bedrooms also double as fans, maybe a separate fan for the top room in such high temperatures is beneficial, so we will take on-board your suggestion.

Lastly, the booking page currently states that the cottage only has one family bathroom, we’d love to add another but can not see a way of doing so without running the 1600’s character of the cosy cottage.

Once again, thank you for staying at Chippy Cottage and providing your feedback.""
