By the old station and the start of the Northampton and Lamport railway, this pub restaurant was a perfect stopping off point on our cycling ride along the Brampton Valley Way. We shared a sandwich at lunchtime which was big enough for the two of us and were sufficiently attracted by the menu to return with friends in the evening when we made use of the '2 meals for £16.50' offer. Good value meals with friendly and efficient service. Recommended.

Came for dinner. Had the superfood salad. It was neither super or a salad. It was a bowl of balsamic dressing with half and onion and some oily cous cous floating in the middle.

When mentioning to the waiter that it very vinegary he commented that it was just my personal preference.

It's not love. If I wanted a bowl of balsamic dressing I would have ordered that.

I think you need to think about changing the name of that dish.

Hi Amanda,

Further to my telephone conversation today with Mr Ribano about your visit, we take constructive feedback very seriously. Thank you so much for bringing this to our attention. As discussed this is certainly not our usual high standards of service and we will use this example to improve, we hope you will accept our offer to come back and dine with us again.

Most of the table of 7 had a good meal, but my partner's crab in the sharing fish platter taken as a main course was so full of chili that he could not eat it. It was not described this way in the menu. It seems to be increasingly common that traditional dishes are being spoilt by the addition of chili and often, as in this case, without it even being shown on the menu. The pulled lamb in my lamb duo also suffered from this, but not so much and I did manage to eat most of it.

Had drinks here this weekend. We were served by a young blonde guy(I think he is a new staff member) who was ultra-efficient, pleasant and speedy with impeccable manners.Nothing was too much trouble.
We had our drinks in the garden at a trestle table overlooking the lake.We stayed for an extra coffee and had a lovely walk around the lake. What a pleasant, relaxing couple of hours. This lovely pub is popular with all ages for good reason.

and impeccable manners.

Fantastic food in a beautiful countryside setting situated next to a heritage railway. Loads of outside seating which is just perfect for a lovely summer’s day. Great inside too, with friendly and attentive staff. Competitively priced and varied menu. Also look out for some fantastic specials. Great drinks too. Lots of parking even at the most popular times. Well worth a visit.
