“Well worth the 250 mile drive for a third visit”
Reviewed 11 June 2015 for a stay in May 2015

Returning from London for a third stay within 18 months illustrates the charm and quality of this place. Delightfully characterful outside, everything within is fresh, clean and beautifully appointed. Sit outside on the former platform for breakfast or a late drink and hear only the countless birds, gently interrupted only occasionally by passing trains. The modern kitchen has everything you need to cook and feed yourself, but the delights of York or a number of celebrated gastropubs are within 30 minutes drive, so why trouble? The A64 is less than a minute away and makes the moors or the coast easily reachable, yet traffic cannot be heard. Highly recommended

Reviewed 8 June 2015 for a stay in June 2015

This is our second time at Platform 1 and still the same.! Spotlessly clean and a lovely welcoming pack from Anne Collins . We take the dogs and they love it too. Great safe garden for them , an orchard and a pond . Lovely accommodation . Nice and cosy and comfortable .we'll definitely be back

“Now booking return trip”
Reviewed 7 April 2015 for a stay in April 2015

Wow what a fantastic place to stay, the building and surroundings were spectacular. Anne and Edmund were wonderful hosts making us feel at home and very welcome. A lovely basket of local goodies waiting for us on arrival. There really is nothing negative we can say about our stay and in fact we are now booking another, can't wait to return.

“Beautiful, very dog friendly, cottage - simply stunning.”
Reviewed 4 April 2015 for a stay in March 2015

An idyllic setting for a holiday cottage with so much character. The former station that served Castle Howard makes for an impressive accomodation. Impeccably clean with a 'Welcome' basket of goodness - you certainly get the feeling that this is a loved space.
The fact that it was dog friendly made it even more relevant to us - with our Black Labrador 'Bruce'. Anne, the owner, told us that we could let him roam free as there was nowhere to go and this new freedom he certainly enjoyed! With it's beautiful 'wild garden' with pond, huge field surrounding and the cosy wood burner - we would recommend thjis cottage to anyone who wants to get away from it all. Preferably with a four legged friend!
