“Lovely apartment situated a stones throw away from the centre”

(If your looking for a quick breakdown on the apartment just go on straight to the bottom og the review)

We were greeted on arrival by the housekeeper who kindly showed us around the apartment. He was very informative and to the point. Paul and Paula (the owners) had left us a card and some biscuits (yay!).

The apartment was lovely and as described, parking is safe and requires an electronic key to get in/out which we were provided with. The kitchen, though small has all the essentials, we are quite particular so we brought along our own cutlery just in case but there was really no need as the utensils are all in great condition. There are two smart televisions both work great and I could connect my laptop to the TV through high speed Wi-Fi, so we watched a few movies on the TV which I had on my laptop. The bathroom is lovely, our one problem was with the shower. When I used it, the shower was fine lovely and warm, however my wife who went in next ended up having to have a cold shower (oops!). I did press the heating boost the next day but unfortunately the same thing happened. The bedroom is also lovely and though you can sometimes hear people walking past outside we didn't have any disruptions during the night.

Onto York itself, beautiful place lots to do and lots to see. I would definitely recommend going for afternoon tea at Bettys, lounging around the museum gardens and taking a tour of the national rail museum all of which are walking distance from Cloisters walk. The only time I had to use the car was when we went to do some shopping at York Outlets (which is great for all your clothes shopping needs!).

All in all we had a great 3 days/nights in York.

Pros:
Lovely clean apartment as described
Heating in both rooms
Fully equipped kitchen
Complimentary biscuits
Fast WiFi
Close proximity to popular sights and the city centre

Cons:
Shower temperature is sporadic
Bed can be a little creaky
small kitchen
Can't guarantee good weather (though there is an umbrella available to use)

What more than that could you want?

For a flat just a hop-skip-and a jump from Monksbar this one is very quiet. There is plenty of room for those who, like me, need to get a little work done and are not just sight-seeing. Facilities are bright and comfortably furnished. As an American (oh no, one of those) I particularly appreciated a shower that was fully enclosed (what is with those tiny glass screens in tubs?).

Liked best: The convenience--such a short walk to centre city and the space--ample and the flat's very pretty in it's decor. Also Paula is just lovely and very helpful.
Liked least: the kitchen could use another skillet or two and some more plates and cups. Felt like I was always running the dishwasher

A very well appointed apartment with all the facilities you require and only a 10 minute walk to the centre of York. However, a secure car parking space is provided so you could happily leave the car behind.

“Smart apartment only a stones throw from city wall”

Our first impressions were that this was a great location very near to Monk Bar in the old County Hospital. The entrance is on the footpath not the Cloister walk road which made it a bit difficult to find on Google Street View and the gated car park was round the back off Monkgate Cloisters.

The apartment was very well presented and equipped with separate bedroom, hall, living area and kitchen. The place was nice and clean with an informative welcome pack.

It was very close to the supermarket and many specialist shops, historic pubs and restaurants. The living area overlooked a pleasant courtyard garden which is accessible but not directly from the flat.

This is the perfect centre for an adult couple looking for a city break.

Brilliant location, it's was our 6th time at 8 cloisters walk. It's been beautifully refurbished, has everything you need for a comgortable stay in York. Having stayed in many other places in York over the last 20 years this apartment is by far the best with parking and only a 2 minute walk to the walls at Monk Bar
