“Tranquil countryside yet just outside beautiful York.”
Reviewed 16 August 2014 for a stay in August 2014

Celandine Cottage is a bijou, well-equipped and smart escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. York and its history, eateries and culture is only 20 mins away, meaning you can have your country cake and eat it. The farm owner and host - Judy - is welcoming and helpful. Nothing is too much trouble. A highly recommended holiday destination. Thanks, Judy!

“An excellent, quiet and secluded holiday base with all you need”
Reviewed 5 August 2014 for a stay in July 2014

Three of us plus a dog stayed in Curlew cottage for 5 days in July. It is very well equipped and clean. Tea, coffee plus a pint of milk were provided so we could have a hot drink before we got the opportunity to get our own supplies. There is one double bedroom and a double sofa-bed in the living room area. The sofa-bed in the living room is comfortable. All the appliances etc. worked fine.
On arrival we were met by the owner Judy. She lives on site and was helpful and sociable throughout our stay. As a nice touch she even provided a large home-made chocolate cake, which was well received!
The cottages each have their own small courtyard garden so that you can sit privately or enjoy the much larger garden area outside. Our dog got on well with her two; Brody (the Jack Russell) usually came with us on our morning and evening walks along the adjacent green lane.
The position is very quiet and secluded, with no noise or distractions, yet within easy reach of York or the many other local attractions. There are several nearby pubs for meals and good beer but it’s a good idea to check the details as not all are open every day for food or otherwise.
Overall, a very pleasant stay and we will certainly return and can wholeheartedly recommend.

“Judy is a marvellous host”
Reviewed 25 June 2014 for a stay in June 2014

The facilities we received were exactly as mentioned on the internet. We had a very enjoyable stay at the cottage, wish we could stay longer to enjoy the surrounding area and the beautiful blooming flowers. Thank you for trying to understand about our request on Brody :) Tess was very obedient :)

“Wonderful , a true get away”
Reviewed 24 June 2014 for a stay in June 2014

We have just returned from 3 nights at the property & loved it
We were met by Judy , The Owner & her 2 friendly dogs & we couldn't have been made more welcome. The location is so peaceful & really is a true get away from it all without being too far from York itself.
The property is very comfortable & has everything you could need including tea bags , milk etc . Also has a lovely self contained private garden , great to sit out & enjoy a bottle of wine after a hard days sight seeing.
Will definately recommend to all our family & friends
Thank you Judy for a real restful break away

“Beautiful part of North Yorkshire, Peaceful stay near to York and other attactions”
Reviewed 6 May 2014 for a stay in May 2014

Stayed for the May Bank Holiday with our 2 children aged 13 & 8 for 3 Nights. Met on arrival by the owner Judy, who lives on site, could not have made us more welcome. Tea, coffee, local eggs, milk, complimentry jam, marmalade and cake in the cottage on arrival. Everything as discribed in the letting description, the children shared the bedroom made up with two twin beds. We slept on the most comfortable sofabed to date, in the main living area. There is a private courtyard garden to the front of the property with a table and chairs leading out to a larger garden with picnic bench and a larger lawn which our children played on. The garden is surrounded by colourful plants, flowers and shrubs and it is a credit to Judy that there was so much colour in the garden this early. There are two dogs on site my youngest fell in love with the very friendly Brodie they played very happlily together. There were other animals including sheep and lambs, one of which being hand fed by Judy during our stay. We took Judy's advice and visited the nearby Air Museum at Elvington with the Children on the Saturday eating traditional wartime food in the onsite cafe spending the remainder of the day in the garden as we had lovely weather, ending the day for a meal in a pub in the next village. As it's very close to York we visited the city, Jorvik and the Dungeons. there are plenty more things to see and do unfortunately we ran out of time.
Finally from a gadget point of view (having young children) the wifi came in very handy all devices contected with no problem and there are plenty of electic points to charge them in.
We would definately return to visit this area again.
