An old building that has been sympathetically extended and updated. Our double room was very comfortable and, even though on the ground floor, was pleasantly quiet. There is also on site parking and a nice swimming pool. Note: as their details say, there is no lift so, although the staff always offer help with luggage, if you find stairs a challenge request a ground floor room.
All the staff were very polite, friendly and helpful from check in to check out
The restaurant provided excellent food, and the Yorkshire portions were generous. The chef did an excellent job when we went "off menu" a bit so we could enjoy the food without overdoing it.
It is an an ideal position for visiting York, the centre of which is a 10-15 minute walk. However, local buses 1,5 and 5a stopped just outside the hotel for those so inclined.
A most enjoyable stay.More
