“Lovely dinner experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 March 2012

I joined an 'early' retirement party at the Dean Court and it was a lovely dinner experience:
superb food, great service and lovely atmosphere in the private dining room with exceptional views on York Minster.
Highly recommended!

We stayed over the weekend and i loved everything about it. Room was perfect and an amazing view, the customer service was 2nd to none.

We have dinner in the restaurant on Sunday and it was the best Sunday lunch i've ever had.

Room Tip: stay at the front of the hotel for a view of York minster

I booked this hotel along with my sister as we have always wanted to see York. The hotel was ideally situated and only a short walk from the station. (Taxis were readily available)
The welcome we received was very warm, incredibly professional and of a standard you would expect from a big fancy place! We were a little early for our room so a porter took our cases and even put them in the room for when we got back from our first explore of York.
The room (50) was lovely, it had a wonderful view of the Minster which was quite literally a stone's throw away!
Every member of the hotel team that we came into contact with was so customer orientated that nothing was too much trouble. There was a lovely little touch they did which was to put the weather forecast on each of the tables at breakfast every morning. The breakfasts were of a very high standard and offered more than just a full English or continental and included a delicious kedjeree.
I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel and am looking forward to returning soon.

Room Tip: Front facing rooms offer a lovely view.

On arrival we were shown to our room by hotel staff (nice touch). Room 51 was a good size with a front facing view. The room itself was very clean, however we personally felt the bathroom could do with an upgrade. Breakfast was very good and was well presented by excellent staff. Overall the hotel staff were very friendly and we would not hesitate to book this hotel again.

It's worth visiting for the marvellous staff alone. Everyone from reception, through breakfast to the night porters was absolutely top notch. Congrats. Our room was billed as a small double. Small? Microscopic. Only one of us at a time could venture out of bed. The bathroom was so cramped one had to sit at an angle on the loo. And all for £145 a night. Not including 12 quid a night parking. That is an utterly scandalous price for such a basic room. You can find better deals in central London. Next night we spent an extra £30 for a modest double. No fridge, an undersized radiator - there was snow outside, and rubbish value at £175. The hotel is ideally situated but it is painfully obvious that it is cashing in on its location. The Hilton, while not as wonderfully placed, is much better value.

Room Tip: Avoid Room 23 at all costs
