“Very Good Cream Tea - just not quite big enough for the hungry.”

Went yesterday for a cream tea with two visiting friends. Service quick and excellent. Scones (sultana - didn't try cheese) warm and obviously freshly baked. Tea quality good - just had breakfast tea - was served in bone china pots / cups. Cheerful lady greeted us and sat us down. Excellent value for £2.50 - but portion size (only one scone and tiny cream portion) was as small as the price.

One suggestion - charge more - say £3.50 - £4.00, and offer two scones and bigger clotted cream portion. Otherwise I'll be forced to eat two portions!

Well worth visiting just for the displays of all manner of antiques in the wider house outside the cafe.

My neighbour and I call in for crumpets and a beverage whenever we are in the area. The welcome is always friendly and the fare tasty. We wish we were in the area more often!

Lovely Georgian fronted house near the cathedral selling antiques and a cafe on first floor. Lovely friendly lady served us homemade fruit loaf and tea for a very reasonable £3.50 each. Loaf was delicious and very substantial with lashings of butter... highly recommended indeed. Lots to chose from but not so many that it's overwhelming.

We visited for a light lunch and the food was very good. It was very quiet with only us and one couple present. The savoury cream tea was very good and the jackets nice too.
Our only criticism was the state of the facilities which they were apparently waiting for someone to come and fix.
Alll in all a reasonably priced tea room in the centre of the city.
