We have just spent last week in this faultless self-catering cottage!
Saying it is close to all amenities is an understatement as you step outside the door into the heart of the East side of Whitby. Next door is a Pie Shop, across the road is a fish and chip shop, around the corner are excellent cafés for breakfast and afternoon tea! If you are still hungry walk 1 minute to a whole myriad of different dining eating establishments! By the same token the beach is a 5 minute walk away; the Abbey is close at hand; the main shopping areas just minutes away and it's a short walk to the railway station to catch a steam train all the way to Pickering.
That said inside The Corner Cottage there is amazingly little noise from the outside world. The downstairs was open plan with a fabulous fully fitted kitchen looking over to leather sofas with wall mounted wide-screen TV and separate dining area with compact HI Fi system. Stone flooring was very attractive and not at all cold.
Upstairs saw two bedrooms; twin singles and a double, both equipped with ample wardrobe space, high quality bedding and linen. The stairs and bedrooms were luxuriously carpeted and very tastefully decorated.
In the bathroom was an exceptionally large shower with two different shower functions - normal and rainforest. Also the usual washbasin and toilet too.
A picnic basket was to be found for our use and a complimentary bottle of wine, of our choice, was chilling in the fridge on our arrival. Nicola G, the owner, was quick to respond to our booking and any other enquiries we had.
All in all a really relaxing and fabulous holiday location with close-by car-parks and stunning harbour views.
We wouldn't hesitate to go back or to recommend The Corner House to anybody visiting Whitby.

We were the first guests in this new retal cottage and you can't grumble with the location. Beach, Abbey, supermarket all within similar walking distance. Eating places litterally next door and across the road. The cottage has been refurbished to a very good standard, so no sense of a penny-piching holiday let, more like furnished to the owner's standard, as somewhere they would be happy to stay themselves. Both bedrooms are very nice and hope the owner can get some better pictures of these than currently on the site. Living area good, with smart kitchen. Picnic bench dining table a bit out of place and will probably not to be to everyones liking, but space is easily big enough for a proper small dining table, so something I'm sure the owner might think about at some point, if other guests make similar comments.. Our two kids loved the DVD TVs in both bedrooms. Two things concerened me initially about the location of the property - noise, and parking. Firstly you can forget about this not being a quiet retreat. Thick walls on this old property means no noise at all from the pie and mash shop next door (food to be recommended, by the way) and the secondary double glazing work a treat to keep any street sound well and trully to a minimum. Parking was not too much of an issue either, as we were happy to bag a place in the long stay carpark only a few yards down the road and leave the card there fro the first few days. Bought a permit from the Tourist Info office (saving of 50p per day on the machine cost) to cover us for 5 of the 7days and this was valid for other car parks up and down the coast, when we visited those. We just factored in the £6 a day cost as a necessary price to pay for such a great location. Thoroughly enjoyed our first holiday in Whitby and would stay again at this characterful property
