“Lovely - great to find somewhere that does 1-night stays!”

We were so pleased to find somewhere that does short (eg 1 night!) breaks, as hotels aren't an option when you've a furry friend in tow.

Country Cottage is a lovely cottage and ideal if you like peace and quiet and your own space as it's situated at the end, looking out over a field, with carparking right outside.
Has everything you need and other than a very sticky front door (which does need some attention) it was great for what we needed and good value. We're going back in March all being well!

Sainsbury is walking distance if you've forgotten something, and there are also 2 pubs serving food within walking distance (we went to the Marstons one next to Sainsbury and it was lovely), it's close to Whitby (couple of miles if you don't fancy taking your car) but also easy to jump in the car and drive to Scarborough as it's just off the Scarborough/Whitby road.

Country Cottage is a perfect little home from home. Well equiped and very comfortable. We took 2 small children and it was very suitable, very baby friendly. I would recommend to anyone who wants a quiet getaway. Close to local amenities and a very short drive to all Whitby's attractions. We will definately go again.
Thanks to Laurie and family.

we arrived at country cottage for our two night stay which was ready for us, it was clean a bit tired could do with a bit of a update plenty of room for parking our 4 year old loved all the animals. Sainsburys is only a 5 minute drive down the road and there is a lovely pub near by.

we would recommend this cottage to anyone and would stay again ourselves, the location so near Whitby was great .

“nice stay”
Reviewed 31 May 2015 for a stay in May 2015

We recently stayed in the country cottage for 4 nights and have to say location wise it is spot on. 5 minute drive or 30 minute walk to the town centre and the Sainsbury's at the end of the long lane/drive is very handy!

Friendly greeting by Laurie the owner who showed us around and was constantly maintaining the grounds during the rest of our stay.

The cottage itself is well appointed with pretty much everything you could want and overlooks a meadow. You can park smack next to the door which has a ramp so is good for pushchairs/wheelchairs.

The kitchen comes with fridge, washing machine, cooker etc and an oil burning central heating boiler which produced plenty of hot water for a good shower! It turned itself off at some point and I couldn't get it to work but the owner sorted it straight away.

The only slight gripe with the cottage is that the beds have seen better days and a couple of new mattresses would be good!

The cinder track nearby is great for a walk into Whitby or to Robin Hoods bay....but you will need to be fit for the latter!

All in all a very nice stay in a well maintained site but one word of caution! It is next to a water treatment site, which is quiet and you generally wouldn't know it was there... until the wind blows towards the cottage and then the aroma is a bit ripe to say the least!
