“Great little retreat”
Reviewed 13 April 2016 for a stay in April 2016

The Boat House is fun, cosy, clean, comfy with smashing views of the harbour. Being in the middle of Whitby's old town it is within walking distance to good bars, cafes and restaurants! No parking outside but purchasing a parking permit from the tourist board gave us worry free parking and the added bonus of being able to use the pass for any long stay car park in the surrounding area.

“Lovely stay”
Reviewed 9 April 2016 for a stay in February 2016

Just away for a few days and wanted something a little different; found it. Had great time. No issues other than to say be aware of the spiral staircase down to kitchen (and up to bedroom). Narrow and a bit scarey bringing hot fd u to dining area, but hey ho one can always find a way around these things. WIll definitely be going bank a little gem and a perfect getaway bolt hole. Thanks.

“Wonderful Property, secluded and cosy, will be visiting again.”

We have just had a two night, three day stay at the gorgeous Boathouse, Whitby. I booked it for my Wife's 50th Birthday, which was the only reason I would have ever considered spending £180.00 a night for Bed, (no breakfast). We has a great time and my Wife loved our mini break. We both absolutely loved the Boathouse. A lovely size for a couple, loved the layout and quirkiness. Considering the Boathouse is situated in the Harbour on full view it felt remarkable secluded and quiet which we loved. Overall we loved our stay and we will definitely be staying there in the future. In the interest of honesty and balance there were a few minor things that I would not have expected or was disappointed with considering the nightly price. When we arrived there was no Milk or a couple of sealed Biscuits so we could immediately have a Cuppa, (as would be expected in any B&B). It was pouring down when we arrived and I had to go back out and try and find a shop that sold Milk, which was a little annoying. The toilet seat was loose and slid all over when sat on. The TV in the bedroom wasn't tuned in and we could only get 1 channel that seemed to show back to back Judge Judy!!!! On our second morning when we were hoping for a little sleep in (time away without the kids is special!!) we were startled awake at 7.45AM by what we thought was someone trying to break in through the front door.I shot down the spiral staircase as fast as I could safely do so, to find a Window Cleaner was outside on the beach, bouncing his ladder across the outer wooden walls of the Boathouse to position it so he could clean the windows. It sounded like a giant was kicking the walls in!!! We were due to leave the Boathouse at 10.30am and I could not see why he could not be told to attend after that time, bearing in mind the next holiday makers aren't allowed to book in till 2.30pm. There is a basic Sky package provided in the Lounge, but it is a basic package, and again, when paying absolute top price per night I do think customer's should expect these little extra's that they would get when paying top dollar in a top quality B&B, Hotel or Cottage. However, these little things are mentioned for the consideration of the property's owner's, and as I stated at the beginning, we did enjoy our stay, the minor points I have mentioned do not outweigh the properties many plus points and we would love to visit The Boathouse again in the future.

“The Boat house”

Great couple of days and Whitby is as good if not better than the last time I visited . The boat house is in an ideal location and has been converted to a very high standard. Couple of points if your thinking about renting, the kitchen and bedrooms are accessible via a spiral staircase, quite a small staircase, bringing hot food or drinks up from the kitchen without spilling it or banging your head is tricky as is getting out the bath.l also ordered Champagne as a surprise but alas it wasn't there. I have tried to contact the owner but as yet no reply. I would however stay in the Boat house again.

“Honeymoon getaway”

We visited the boathouse on our honeymoon. It is a lovely property in a fantastic location ideal for exploring Whitby. It has all the amenities you would need including a full kitchen with washing machine and dishwasher and a large screen tv and dvd player. The only reason we haven't given it 5 stars is due to a few small niggles which could easily be ironed out. The lighter for the fire had no gas in (this was easily remedied by buying a new one in the pound shop!), it would have been nice to have been provided with a few dishwasher tablets (again we bought a small box of these cheaply enough), the kitchen bin was broken and the tv upstairs only receives 2 channels even after re tuning. None of these things significantly made our stay any worse but we would have expected these little touched in a property of this standard and price range. A good tip would be to bring your sky card from home with you if you subscribe to sky as the downstairs tv works on a sky box.
